The US Open is reaching the business end, and Tuesday’s card features four quarter-finals, two from the men’s draw and two from the women’s.

Novak Djokovic, bidding to win his 24th Grand Slam title in New York, is the star attraction, and the super Serb is unlikely to get too much love from the home crowd against American ace Taylor Fritz.

The other men’s quarter-final is an all-American affair as France Tiafoe meets his younger compatriot Ben Shelton, who upset Tommy Paul in the last round.

In the women’s draw, home favourite Cori Gauff takes on Iga Swiatek’s conqueror, Jelena Ostapenko, while Karolina Muchova squares up against Sorana Cirstea.

Novak Djokovic to win 3-0 v Taylor Fritz

Fritz has a habit of disappointing when faced with the game’s elite, and he could face a tough time against Djokovic, who will be fully focused on adding a fourth US Open title triumph to his accolades.

This is only the second Grand Slam quarter-final in the career of world number nine Fritz, who will know all too well that he has lost all seven career meetings with Djokovic.

Interestingly, Djokovic has won six of those seven meetings in straight sets, and three of his four wins in New York have also finished 3-0.

Frances Tiafoe to beat Ben Shelton

Tiafoe made the semi-final of last year’s US Open, and the American can repeat the trick with victory over fellow countryman Shelton.

Shelton is not opposed lightly after his impressive four-set wins over Aslan Karatsev and Paul, but the quick-moving Tiafoe has looked the real deal in recent seasons and may have the 20-year-old’s measure.

Over 20.5 games in Jelena Ostapenko v Cori Gauff

Ostapenko caused a stir with her three-set win over defending US Open champion and world number one Iga Swiatek in the fourth round, but another tough test awaits against teenage talent Gauff.

This quarter-final could be an epic and there is every chance it could go the distance, which makes over 20.5 games a strong fancy for punters.

Each of Ostapenko’s last eight matches have gone to a deciding set, while Gauff has needed three sets before prevailing in three of her four encounters at Flushing Meadows.

Karolina Muchova to beat Sorana Cirstea

Having struggled through injuries for a few seasons, Muchova has been rejuvenated this campaign, and the Czech talent will be expected to triumph in this quarter-final.

Muchova has finished runner-up at the French Open and in Cincinnati this season, which has enabled her to move back into the world’s top ten.

The 27-year-old has won three of her four meetings with the Romanian, which includes a straight-sets victory in Montreal a month ago and can deliver the goods.
