There are 16 third-round matches taking place at the US Open on Friday with 23-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic and reigning women’s champion Iga Swiatek the headline acts.

There is plenty of opportunity for punters to have an accumulator and we have assembled a Flushing Meadows five-fold which pays out at just under 5/1.

US Open Accumulator Tips

  • Zhizhen Zhang to beat to Rinky Hijikata @ 8/13
  • Taylor Fritz to win 3-0 v Jakub Mensik @ 8/13
  • Elena Rybakina to beat Sorana Cirstea @ 2/7
  • Coco Gauff to win 2-0 v Elise Mertens @ 4/9
  • Karolina Muchova to beat Taylor Townsend @ 1/5

Zhizhen Zhang to beat Rinky Hijikata @ 8/13

Zhizhen Zhang has come through two five-set contests but he has upset the odds on both occasions, building on victory over home hope John Jeffrey Wolf with a high-profile win over last season’s runner-up Casper Ruud.

On that evidence, Zhang should be too strong for Australia’s Rinky Hijikata, who is ranked 43 places lower in the world rankings and was beaten by the Chinese performer when they clashed in a hard-court Challenger event in Phoenix in March.

Taylor Fritz to win 3-0 v Jakub Mensik @ 8/13

The big-serving Taylor Fritz is the highest ranked American player on the ATP Tour at world number nine and the Californian should have few concerns sealing his spot in the last 16.

Fritz has recorded straight-set victories over Steve Johnson and Juan Pablo Varillas in New York and has dropped a total of only 10 games.

Expect a similar scenario against 17-year-old Jakub Mensik, the world number 206 qualifier who has profited from a particularly soft draw.

Elena Rybakina to beat Sorana Cirstea @ 2/7

Women’s world number four Elena Rybakina eased past Marta Kostyuk 6-2 6-1 in the opening round and then received a walkover in round two as Ajla Tomljanovic withdrew.

That should ensure the 2022 Wimbledon champion and this season’s Australian Open runner-up is fighting fit for the challenge of Sorana Cirstea, a player she has defeated in both previous meetings.

Cirstea tends to fall short against the game’s elite and Rybakina is a serious title contender.

Coco Gauff to win 2-0 v Elise Mertens @ 4/9

American teenage talent Cori Gauff looks a live contender at this season’s US Open and she should have the measure of third-round opponent Elise Mertens.

Gauff won her fifth career title in Cincinnati earlier this month and, having already won in Washington, she has lost only one of her last 14 matches, all of which is despite being only 19 years of age.

Eleven of those 13 victories have come in straight sets and she could repeat the trick against Mertens, who has lost both meetings between the pair and will also have a hostile crowd to silence.

Karolina Muchova to beat Taylor Townsend @ 1/5

Czech world number 10 Karolina Muchova has been one of this season’s form players and she should have too much quality for America’s Taylor Townsend.

Muchova finished runner-up to Iga Swiatek at the French Open in June and she also made the final in Cincinnati, where she lost to Gauff, in the build up to the US Open.

That form is miles ahead of what Townsend is capable of and this should be one-way traffic.
