Tennis Betting Tips: Osaka is gearing up for another crack at the US Open

Tuesday was not as successful as I was hoping for as none of my selections were successful. One of them was void which is just one of those things, but it does make be more eager for success on Wednesday.
My focus remains on both Canadian Opens in Toronto and Montreal, with some cracking matches in store. Below are my tennis betting tips for Wednesday, August 7.
Tennis Betting Tips - Wednesday, August 7
Paula Badosa to beat Clara Tauson 2-1 @ 11/4
After claiming a big title win in the form of the Citi Open last week, Spaniard Paula Badosa has a wave of momentum heading into the Canadian Open. Having experienced plenty of injury problems over the last couple of years, her success last week felt like it might just be a turning point.
The former World number two comes up against Clara Tauson, who defeated Badosa on her way to her first career title back in 2021. Like the Spanish star, she too has had problems with injuries of late, along with inconsistent form. Her offensive tennis is still a weapon, though, and she can certainly give her opponent a tough start to this event in Toronto.
However, Badosa is going to be full of confidence after last week's triumph and with the way she is playing right now, she should play her way through to the next round. I'm backing her to win in three sets.
Ben Shelton to beat Alexander Bublik 2-0 @ 5/4
Seeing as Ben Shelton has lost his two previous encounters against Alexander Bublik, you may think I am crazy to back him to win this match in straight sets. The reason being that this match is on the hard court, and those defeats came on clay - the American's least comfortable surface.
I think he will have the edge here because he tends to perform a lot better on this particular court. I am not expecting many long rallies in this one, just some outstanding shot-work. Shelton is strong at holding his serve and he has the attributes to handle what Bublik can throw at him. He has also been quite sharp in tie breaks this season, which could have a huge part to play in this contest, especially if it is to be wrapped up after two sets.
Naomi Osaka to beat Ons Jabeur 2-1 @ 3/1
Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka is hoping that her comeback can deliver more success, and by her standards that is by winning majors. She was playing some excellent stuff at Roland Garros earlier this year when coming up against four-time French Open winner Iga Swiatek, showing glimpses of the superstar we came to know a few years back.
That was just on clay, which isn't even her best surface, so imagine how good she can be on the hard court on which she delivers her best tennis, as she gears up to try and claim a third US Open title next month. What better way to help her prepare for the upcoming Slam than to be handed a tough first-round opponent in Ons Jabeur at the Canadian Open.
It is just the sort of challenge a person hoping for more Grand Slam glory needs in the build up, and I think she will come through it, albeit in three sets.
