Tennis Betting Tips: Former Grand Slam champ Kenin can turn on the style

The action has been coming thick and fast in China over the last month and there is plenty to look forward to on Tuesday as play resumes in both Shanghai and Wuhan. The men are in action in Shanghai, where Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz are the top three seeds, while it is the women starring in Wuhan with Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula the headline acts in the absence of Iga Swiatek.
The strength of the fields make those tournaments attractive betting heats and there is plenty of value to be had including a victory for a former Australian Open champion.
Tennis Betting Tips, Tuesday October 8
Sofia Kenin to beat Ekaterina Alexandrova @ 6/5
Sofia Kenin has struggled for consistency ever since she won the Australian Open before finishing runner-up in the French equivalent in the 2020 campaign, although the 25-year-old still has time on her side to rediscover that spark.
Now at world number 162, there is plenty of work that needs to be done by Kenin in order to deliver that turnaround, but she remains capable of producing top-class performances.
The American has faced tough tests in her last two tournaments at the US Open and in Beijing, losing to world number three Pegula and world number 16 Diana Shnaider, but this Wuhan curtain-raiser with an out-of-form Ekaterina Alexandrova should be more informative.
Alexandrova has lost three of her last four matches, with her sole success in that time seeing her edge past world number 160 Varvara Lepchenko in a deciding set in Seoul.
The Russian has been beaten by world number 126 Polina Kudermetova and world number 53 Rebecca Stramkova in her last two starts and if Kenin chooses to turn on the style, then another setback could be on the way.
Veronika Kudermetova to beat Marie Bouzkova @ 4/5
Having slipped from a career-high ranking of nine down to world number 63, Veronika Kudermetova is a player on the recovery mission and the recent signs have at least been more encouraging.
Kudermetova made the semi-final in Seoul, upsetting fellow Russian Liudmila Samsonova along the way, while she gave second seed Pegula a scare in Beijing most recently, taking the first set before succumbing to defeat.
Marie Bouzkova is officially the higher-ranked player but she has lost four of her last seven matches and hasn’t been seen in action since withdrawing prior to her quarter-final clash with Caroline Garcia in Guadalajara, which was over three weeks ago.
Liudmila Samsonova to win 2-0 v Magda Linette @ 11/10
Samsonova has endured a few difficult results but she reached the last 16 of the US Open in September and can celebrate a return to form with a straight-sets victory over Magda Linette.
The world number 23 has defeated Magda Linette 2-0 in all three competitive meetings, which includes a 7-6 6-1 victory in Cincinnati in the middle of August, and she is expected to be too savvy for the Pole when they renew their rivalry in Wuhan.
