Tennis Betting Tips: Three picks for Friday’s action

A day to forget for me yesterday, as none of my three picks managed to land. Let's see if we can bounce back today with my tennis betting tips for Friday, which will focus on ATP Montreal and WTA Toronto.
Tennis Betting Tips - Friday, August 9
Set Betting - Alexander Zverev to beat Holger Rune 2-1 @ 13/5
The first pick comes from the match between Alexander Zverev and Holger Rune at ATP Montreal.
The previous match-up between these two was a high-quality affair at Roland Garros in which Zverev prevailed in five sets, en route to the final.
The German should have the edge in this encounter given his quality on the hard courts, but Rune is a talented player who can beat anyone on his day, in my opinion. He'll fancy his chances here of causing an upset, as Zverev's results since losing the final at Roland Garros haven't been brilliant.
However, I'm backing the German to prevail as he'll want to build some momentum heading into the US Open at the end of the month. Zverev has also looked incredibly sharp, blasting past the in-form Jordan Thompson for the loss of just two games yesterday.
Set Betting - Grigor Dimitrov to beat Alexei Popyrin 2-0 @ 9/10
Grigor Dimitrov has enjoyed a career renaissance this season after battling with numerous injuries over the past few years.
He's come up short in the two ATP Masters 1000 finals he's made in 2024, but to be fair, he lost to Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner.
This week at Montreal looks like another chance to make a deep run, and the Bulgarian will be confident of advancing to the next round here after only dropping one game against Rinky Hijikata last time out.
Alexei Popyrin came through an closely-fought contest against number 11 seed Ben Shelton yesterday, and has been playing well in Canada, but Dimitrov should have too much quality for the Australian.
Set Betting - Aryna Sabalenka to beat Katie Boulter 2-0 @ 8/15
This is the fourth meeting between Aryna Sabalenka and Katie Boulter, with the former winning the three previous encounters.
Sabalenka breezed through her second-round match against Yue Yuan, winning 6-2, 6-2, while Boulter only had to play two games in her match against Beatriz Haddad Maia due to the Brazilian retiring with injury.
Both players are aggressive baseliners, but Sabalenka has the stronger groundstrokes, as well as the better serve. Boulter will have to rely on her serve to keep her within striking distance in this match, otherwise the world number three will run away with this.
