French Open Betting Tips: Gauff and Alcaraz can steam into the semis

Two men’s quarter-finals and all four women’s last-eight matches are on Tuesday’s French Open slate as the path to the weekend’s singles finals becomes clearer.
Carlos Alcaraz meets Stefanos Tsitsipas in a repeat of last year’s meeting at the same stage, while Coco Gauff takes on Ons Jabeur in arguably the most intriguing women’s match of the tournament so far.

Coco Gauff to beat Ons Jabeur 2-0 @ 7/10
The American third seed’s athleticism has been on display since round one as she has won all four of her matches in straight sets so far.
But it is Gauff’s greater power that could be the decisive factor in this matchup with an opponent who simply cannot match her shot speed, either on serve or from the baseline.
Jabeur has hit more winners during her four Roland-Garros victories this year, but Gauff has made fewer unforced errors and she has less reason to gamble with her shot-making than the Tunisian in this clash.
The 20-year-old holds a 4-2 head-to-head advantage over her older opponent and crucially took their only previous meeting on the Paris clay back in 2021.
She dropped just four games in that fourth-round encounter and almost whitewashed Jabeur during their only meeting in the 2023 season at the WTA Finals, so a straight-sets victory could again be within her grasp.
The winner earns the right to probably face women’s number one and reigning Roland-Garros queen Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals, so the fresher they can remain for that the better.
Carlos Alcaraz -5.5 game handicap v Stefanos Tsitsipas @ 8/11
Tsitsipas lost 6-1 6-2 7-6 when he met the Spanish prodigy at the same stage last year, but Alcaraz’s form has not been as impressive as it was 12 months ago.
That said, the number three seed could be peaking when it matters most in the second week and there was enough evidence to suggest he’s doing that in his crushing 6-3 6-3 6-1 win over Felix Auger-Aliassime on Sunday.
Tsitsipas had to dig a little deeper to pull out his fourth-round win over Matteo Arnaldi after dropping the first set to the Italian, who had previously eliminated sixth seed Andrey Rublev.
The Greek star has had a good tournament, but his 0-5 record against Alcaraz speaks for itself with the Spaniard having won all three previous meetings on clay with an aggregate game total of 48-29.
He simply has not found the formula to confuse Alcaraz enough and the French Open outright betting favourite ought to cover the Game Handicap 2 of -5.5 games over the minimum distance of three sets.
Over 35.5 games in Grigor Dimitrov v Jannik Sinner @ 8/11
Dimitrov can also take pride in reaching his first French Open quarter-final at the age of 33, but the road ends here for the Bulgarian as he next faces the most consistent male player of the last year.
Sinner has strolled through four games and dropped only one set — the opener in his fourth-round win over Corentin Moutet on Sunday.
The Italian has been very strong on his returns, converting 21 break points, but Dimitrov has served very well and could be capable of taking at least one of the sets to a tie-break.
Three of the Bulgarian’s last six sets in this tournament have gone the distance and he won all three.
If he can take one of the sets in this quarter-final clash on a tie-break there should be a good chance that there will be more than 36 total games in the contest — barring a complete Sinner meltdown.
But the mature 22-year-old, who confidently beat Dimitrov 6-3 6-1 in the Masters final in Miami earlier this year, rarely loses his cool and will surely recover from the setback eventually.
