When does I'm a Celeb 2024 Start?

The 24th edition of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! begins on Sunday 17th November and will run through until the final on Sunday 8th December. As usual there will be 10 initial contestants dropped into the Australian jungle, who will compete in a series of Dingo Dollar tasks and Bushtucker Trials, that will be voted on by the watching public.

They will be joined by two more contestants part-way through the series and the celebrities will be voted out of the show in eviction votes on a nightly basis, until we are left with a final three. The winning celeb will be crowned king or queen of the jungle and won't only win the jungle crown, they'll also see their fame and earnings skyrocket.

As usual hosts Ant and Dec will be watching on as the celebs face their biggest fears of heights, snakes, rats, confined spaces, water and creepy-crawlies. And, of course there will be the usual revolting food & drink challenges. So who on earth would sign up to be put through this daily hell, while living on a diet of mainly rice and beans? This lot, that's who....

Who are this year’s I'm a Celeb contestants?

Danny Jones @ 9/4

McFly singer and guitarist Danny Jones has already picked up a massive reality TV show crown this year, winning the fifth season of The Masked Singer whilst dressed as a giant Piranha.

The 38-year-old Boltonian is also a regular judge on the singing talent show The Voice so will have an engaged existing fanbase, is hugely popular and seems to possess the perfect character to do well in the jungle.

He'll be hoping a win here will boost his popularity still further, ahead of a massive 2025 tour for McFly. His bandmate Dougie Poynter won the 11th series of the show back in 2011.

Maura Higgins @ 11/2

Another reality TV stalwart up next in the form of Irish lass Maura Higgins. The current flame of TOWIE and now Strictly star Pete Wicks, Higgins rose to fame in the fifth season of Love Island. She's also been on Dancing on Ice, as well as several other reality panel shows and has presented TV programmes including Glow Up and some Love Island spin-offs.

The 33-year-old model has over 4m followers on Instagram and should be hugely popular on this format, so could be a real contender for the crown, however, she will only be entering the show after a week's delay, so may find the camp is already formed. Will the lip-licking Pete be waiting for her when she walks across that famous bridge? It remains to be seen.

Alan Halsall @ 11/2

Tyrone, innit...

We usually get a Coronation Street actor on this show and there's no change this year as Alan Halsall aka Tyrone Dobbs enters the jungle. The 42-year-old has been starring on Corrie since 1998 and must be excited about trying something new.

The closest we've had to a Corrie winner was Andy Whyment back in 2019 on series 19 but can Tyrone, I mean Alan, go one better?

GK Barry @ 6/1

I have to admit I had no idea who this was and thought it was some sort of Goalkeeper/Gareth Barry hybrid.

I must apologise to GK Barry aka Grace Eleanor Keeling, who apparently is a social media influencer, internet personality and presenter, though primarily famous for posting lifestyle tips on TikTok. She has been touring her Saving Grace podcast around the UK and has appeared on the ITV show Loose Women on numerous occasions.

I'm guessing the short odds here stem from her huge TikTok presence amongst younger viewers but could have a hard time winning over the older cohort.

Coleen Rooney @ 10/1

'It's Wagatha Christie...'

Probably the most famous of this year's contestants comes in the form of ex-Manchester United and England footballer and current Plymouth Argyle manager Wayne Rooney's wife, Coleen. Yes, it really is that bad...

Of course, Coleen has carved out a nice career of her own, which includes presenting, writing and modelling, as well as being a full-time mum to their four children.

But, yes - she is most famous for the her epic tweet in 2019, when she revealed that posts from her private Instagram account were being sold to the Sun newspaper and names fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy as the one she claimed to be doing it. This subsequently broke the internet and led to thousands of memes, a court case (which Rooney won) and a Disney+ documentary.

Can Rooney score another big win here in the jungle. It's gonna be interesting hearing her stories about Wayne and Vardy at the very least...

I'm A Celebrity 2024 - Outright Coleen Rooney

Odds correct at time of publishing.

Dean McCullough @ 12/1

Another one who I didn't know (yes, I'm showing my age!) of before writing this.

The Northern Irishman is famous for presenting the Radio 1 afternoon show alongside Vicky Hawkesworth, replacing long-time incumbent Scott Mills. Prior to that he presented on Gaydio, where his show discussed all the latest LGBTQ+ issues.

Dean looks short priced here considering a lot of people will have never seen his face before but you never know?

Oti Mabuse @ 12/1

Ah lovely Oti...

The 34-year-old South African is a two-time winner of Strictly Come Dancing as the professional dancer alongside celebs Kelvin Fletcher and Bill Bailey in back-to-back years. Since then she's been a panelist on the Masked Dancer and also on Dancing on Ice.

She's leaving her one-year-old child at home to enter the jungle as in her own words:

“Now I have had my baby daughter, I want to get back to the adventurous and fun Oti.

Of course not seeing my daughter is going to be hard. She is going to be one of my biggest motivators.”

Tulisa Contostavlos @ 14/1

Tulisa sprang to fame in the UK as part of the R&B/Hip Hop group N-Dubz, who alongside her cousin Dappy had 13 top-40 singles, as well as multiple platinum selling albums. She then went on to forge a solo career and also star as a panellist on the reality TV show The X Factor.

The 36-year-old Londoner has kept a very low profile in recent years and has spoken of leaving the public eye in the next couple of years, so it remains to be seen how she will deal with such media and public scrutiny over whats sure to be an intense few weeks.

Richard Coles @ 16/1

Coles will be going in late alongside Maura Higgins but should be sure to shake up things in an already established camp.

The ex-Communard instrumentalist burst to fame alongside Jimmy Somerville in the 1980's but post music career retrained as a Church of England Priest and has since gone on to write and present on both TV and radio.

The openly gay vicar retired from his role in 2022, citing the church as increasingly excluding gay couples and has since concentrated on his writing career.

The 62-year-old has starred on several other reality shows including Celebrity Masterchef and Strictly, so will be no stranger to the cameras in camp.

Barry McGuigan @ 16/1

McGuigan is the token sportsman in the camp and a really famous one at that.

The Irish promoter and former-boxer was a huge name in the 80's at the height of his career and held the WBA and Lineal featherweight titles from 1983 to 1985. Unlike most lighter weight boxers, he was a household name in both Ireland and England and won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award in 1985.

The 63-year-old was one of the first sportsmen to have united support from both Protestants and Catholics and represented Ireland, Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom at various points in her career.

Barry should be a popular camp member but isn't afraid of giving his opinion so could rub a few people's backs up.

Melvin Odoom @ 20/1

Odoom is a award-winning Radio DJ and tv presenter, primarily famous for presenting the Kiss 100 Breakfast show and the BBC Live Lounge on radio, as well as the BRIT and MOBO award ceremonies.

The 44-year-old has dipped his toes into the reality TV world before, being evicted in the first week of the fourteenth series of Strictly.

Jane Moore @ 50/1

Last, but not least is another Loose Woman and The Sun columnist Jane Moore.

The 62-year-old has been hugely outspoken in her column over the last 25 years on various political matters, so will be sure to give her twopenneth in camp.

As proven as the sometimes host of Loose Women though, she loves a discussion and will keep the chat going around the jungle camp fire.
