The UK Championships are into the quarter finals stage and our snooker tipster Dean Strand has a familiar angle for Friday's opening match at the Barbican.

UK Championship Day 7 Tips

  • 2pts Ronnie O’Sullivan -3.5 v Zhou Yuelong - 7/4
  • 0.5pts Ronnie O’Sullivan 6-0 - 14/1

2pts Ronnie O’Sullivan -3.5 v Zhou Yuelong - 7/4

O’Sullivan is a very tough player to predict. The Rocket has shown signs of brilliance lately and looked very good winning six frames in a row against McGill in the first round but did throw in a few mistakes in his 2nd round win over Milkins.

No winners when backing these markets against Milkins yesterday but I still think there’s value in backing the same bets here against Yuelong.

Zhou is a player who often lets the big occasion get to him and as a result is often torn apart by the top players. In his first ranking event final he failed to win a frame losing 9-0 against Robertson and even in his 2nd lost 8 frames in a row to Mark Allen from 4-1 up to lose 9-4.

0.5pts Ronnie O’Sullivan 6-0 - 14/1

This might not be a final but playing Ronnie O’Sullivan at the UK Championship is always a big occasion. Yuelong has experienced this twice before and lost 6-0 on both occasions.

In his two other matches against the Rocket he’s lost 4-1, making it 20-2 on total frames between the two.
