Scotland start off their autumn internationals on Saturday evening with a home meeting with Fiji - ranked eighth in the world - and the Scots will be hoping their recent form helps them in this contest.

Gregor Townsend’s men are on their best winning run since 2021, with victories in each of their last four fixtures since the conclusion of the 2024 Six Nations tournament.

Fiji will provide Scotland with their biggest test since March, with Mick Byrne’s side heading into this match on the back of lifting the Pacific Nations Cup for a record-extending seventh time. Read on for my Scotland vs Fiji prediction, as well as the latest match odds and team news.

Team News

Gregor Townsend has made nine changes to the starting XV that defeated Uruguay 31-19 back in July, with five of these new faces coming into the scrum.

Pierre Schoeman and Zander Fagerson both come into the front row in place of Javan Sebastian and the benched Rory Sutherland.

Max Williamson and Gregor Brown also drop to the substitutes bench to make way for the second row partnership of Grant Gilchrist and Scott Cummings while Jack Dempsey starts at number eight, moving Matt Fagerson into flanker.

Ali Price and Adam Hastings start at scrum and fly-half respectively, Darcy Graham features from the off on the right wing and Sione Tuipulotu will captain the side from centre for the first time.

Mick Byrne meanwhile makes just four changes to the side that started the 41-17 victory over Japan in the Pacific Nations Cup final in September.

Prop Haereiri Hetet and lock Ratu Leone Rotuisolia replace Eroni Mawi and Temo Mayanavanua in the scrum while Ilaisa Droasese and Iosefo Masi make way for Ponipate Loganimasi and Apisaolme Vota at left wing and outside centre respectively.

Scotland are the overwhelming favourites for victory in this friendly at 1/25 whereas the Flying Fijians can be backed at 9/1 to stun the hosts.

The draw provides odds of 28/1 while Scotland’s new record tryscorer Duhan van der Merwe is at 6/1 to get over the line first

Scotland to win by 1-12 points inclusive @ 100/30

Scotland’s dominance over the summer should give them the confidence to go out and claim victory in front of their own fans but the quality of the Fijians should make for a closer margin of victory for the hosts.

Fiji have claimed impressive wins over England (30-22) and Australia (22-15) over the past 18 months and only one of their last five defeats have come by a margin greater than 12 points - against the All Blacks in July (47-5).

The hosts have never lost a home meeting with Fiji and their home crowd should steer them towards success but it is unlikely that Gregor Townsend’s men will run away with proceedings and so the 1-12 points inclusive market shows a lot of promise.
