The first Premiership semi-final sees Northampton Saints - who finished top of the pile with 12 wins from 18 league matches - face Saracens, who dropped into fourth place after a 20-10 home defeat to Sale Sharks on the final day of the campaign. The Saints were near-perfect at Franklin's Gardens in the league this season, winning eight of their nine fixtures.

Those victories included Phil Dowson's men beating Sarries 41-30 in March. Despite an inconsistent season, champions Saracens often raise their game for the play-offs and will be desperate to get back to Twickenham, where they beat Sale 35-25 in the 2023 final after knocking the Saints out in the semis.

Match Odds

Home advantage means that the Saints are heavy favourites to win this semi-final at 4/7, while Saracens are 6/4 to reach a third successive final.

Team News

Captain Courtney Lawes, and prop Alex Waller and lock Alex Moon all start in their final home appearances for Northampton.

The Saints have gone for a six-two split on the bench, with Tom James and George Hendy providing back-line cover.

Saracens are also set to wave goodbye to some of their big guns in the summer and captain Owen Farrell and Mako and Billy Vunipiola start.

Coach Mark McCall has only gone for a six-two split, aided by the return of Alex Lozowski to the bench, having been out since November.

Northampton Saints -6 (3-way handicap) @ 1/1

Given their impressive home record this season, it is difficult to look past a Northampton victory on Friday.

The Saints scored a competition-leading 351 points at home, while their last outing at Franklin's Gardens saw Dowson's side at their dominant, ruthless best as they put Gloucester to the sword in a 90-0 thrashing.

Saracens have looked strong on the road this season, with only Bristol Bears boasting a better record away from home than their 25 points accrued.

However, they have failed to win on any of their last three visits to the Gardens, conceding 137 points in the process, and so could come unstuck in this encounter.
