Sunday's Gallagher Prem action sees power-duo Leicester Tigers and Saracens lock horns at Mattioli Woods Welford Road (15:00 KO, live on TNT Sports 1) as both of these English big guns seek some consistency this season.

It's been something of a transitional first season for Tigers head coach Geoff Parling, though last weekend's defeat at Exeter Chiefs was a first domestic reverse in seven games. Mark McCall's Saracens have just two away wins on the board this season but they are behind their hosts on scoring difference alone going into this latest battle.

Enda McElhinney provides his best bets in his Leicester Tigers vs Saracens prediction piece, as well as all the essential team news and match odds for the showdown in the Midlands.

Leicester Tigers vs Saracens odds

The home side are slight underdogs at 5/4 in what looks a tough game to call, with Saracens installed as favourites at 4/6 and the draw trading at 22/1.

The three-way handicap gives Leicester a two-point start at 20/21, with Saracens 5/6 to win by three or more and the handicap draw at 22/1.

Team News

England international Jack van Poortvliet returns to Leicester Tigers' starting XV for the first time since the visit to Northampton Saints in October. The scrum half has featured off the replacements bench twice in recent weeks.

Sam Williams makes his first Gallagher Prem start for the club, while James Thompson and Orlando Bailey also join the side. Emeka Ilione makes his long awaited return from injury, though only as a possible replacement.

Sarries make four changes from the win over Gloucester, with Fergus Burke returning at fly-half to an otherwise unchanged back line that sees Nick Tompkins and Lucio Cinti combine in the centres.

Rhys Carre and Marco Riccioni come into the front row while Ben Earl starts in the back row alongside Theo McFarland and Tom Willis.

Leicester Tigers to win @ 5/4

Points difference only splits these teams ahead of their round nine Gallagher Prem clash. Saracens entered this round as leading tryscorers with 41 but, with temperatures expected to hover just above freezing, this could be attritional and gritty rather than high-scoring.

Beaten finalists last season, Leicester underwent a major summer overhaul and head coach Parling is still striving for consistency.

Sarries have been defeated in four of their last five trips to this venue and have come off second-best in three of the last four meetings with Leicester.

While McCall's side got a morale-boosting win over Gloucester on the road last weekend, they have lost four of their last six Gallagher Prem games.

With Van Poortvliet back starting and Freddie Steward is good scoring tune recently, the Tigers can make home advantage count.
