Welford Road will stage an intriguing European Champions Cup clash on Saturday (15:15) as Leicester Tigers host Pool 4 frontrunners Leinster.

With three wins from their first three games, Leinster only require a single point from their trip to the East Midlands to secure a home tie in the Round of 16.

Leicester themselves are looking to earn a home fixture in the knockouts, so it’s all to play for as the Premiership side hope to potentially pip the Stormers to second spot in Pool 4.

Team News

Ollie Hassell-Collins returns from injury to start on the wing for Leicester, in a back three that also includes Freddie Steward and Harry Simmons.

Matt Scott and Dan Kelly make up the centres, outside South Africa star Handre Pollard and Tom Whiteley in the half-backs.

Hanro Liebenberg is also back from injury to join Tommy Reffell and Jasper Wiese in the back-row.

Harry Wells and Ollie Chessum start in the second-row, behind James Cronin, skipper Julian Montoya and Joe Heyes in the front-row.

As for Leinster, they make two changes from the side that beat Stade Francais last weekend, with James Ryan replacing Jason Jenkins in the second-row, while Harry Byrne comes in for Ciaran Frawley at fly-half.

Ryan joins a pack that includes Andrew Porter, Dan Sheehan and Tadhg Furlong in the front-row, with Joe McCarthy, Ryan Baird, Josh van der Flier and Caelon Doris making up the remainder of the forwards.

Byrne lines up alongside scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park, centres Robbie Henshaw and Garry Ringrose, with James Lowe, Jordan Larmour and Hugo Keenan completing a formidable back division.

Match Odds

Leicester are the underdogs on home soil in the match winner market at 10/3 for the victory.

Leinster are available at 2/9 to claim the win in the East Midlands, while a tie at Welford Road is currently 20/1.

Leicester Tigers +7.5 handicap @ 20/21

A losing bonus point would be enough to guarantee Leicester’s place in the knockout round and that might well be in the back of their minds in the business end of Saturday’s contest.

This Leinster side would give most national sides a run for their money with so many Ireland stars among their ranks.

Leicester will do all they can to make this is a tight contest and perhaps they will fall short in pulling off a shock win over this star-studded Leinster side.

However, with World Cup winner Pollard no stranger to the big occasion, his boot could keep this game a tighter affair than some might expect.

With that in mind, look to Leicester at 20/21 to make the most of a +7.5 handicap at Welford Road.
