England start off their autumn internationals by hosting New Zealand at Twickenham on Saturday (15:10, TNT Sports 1), and Steve Borthwick will be hoping to finally get the better of the All Blacks after a disappointing summer.

The Red Rose were defeated twice by New Zealand in July this year but, after a disappointing performance in the Rugby Championship, the All Blacks may be there for the taking in London. Read on for my England vs New Zealand prediction and all the latest team news.

Team News

Steve Borthwick has named four changes to the starting lineup from England’s last international four months ago, with the alterations evenly split between the front and backs.

In the scrum and prop, Ellis Genge starts at loosehead ahead of Fin Baxter, with the Harlequins man named amongst the substitutes, while Tom Curry will partner Chandler Cunningham-South at flanker with Sam Underhill absent from the matchday squad as he continues to recover from ankle surgery.

Elsewhere, Ben Spencer will conduct proceedings from scrum-half with Alex Mitchell out of action with a neck injury and George Furbank will make his 12th appearance in an England shirt as he starts at full-back ahead of Freddie Steward.

All Blacks boss Scott Robertson meanwhile has made 12 changes to the XV that thrashed Japan 64-19 last Saturday, with Tamaiti Williams, Wallace Sititi and Sam Cane the only players keeping their starting spots.

The three Barrett brothers Scott, Beauden and Jordie all come in to start for New Zealand - the former captaining the side on his 77th appearance - while Asafo Aumua, Pasilio Tosi, Patrick Tuipulotu, Samipeni Finau, Cam Roigard, Damian McKenzie and Anton Lienert-Brown all drop to the bench from last weekend.

While they may have home advantage, England are still the underdogs in this contest at 6/4, giving them an implied win probability of 40%, while the All Blacks - who last lost at Twickenham in 2012 - are 4/7 to claim the victory.

The draw provides odds of 20/1 while both sides going into half-time on level terms is available at 12/1.

England to win by 1-12 points inclusive @ 13/5

England came up short in their two meetings with the All Blacks in July - losing 16-15 in Dunedin before a 24-17 defeat in Auckland - but Steve Borthwick’s men can make it third time lucky at Twickenham on Saturday.

The All Blacks are entering this contest on the back of a poor Rugby Championship defence, losing three of their six matches including a shock 38-30 defeat to Argentina in Wellington as world champions South Africa cruised to success.

New Zealand have won each of their last three matches but these victories have come against an Australian side that lost five of their six tournament matches in 2024 (twice) and a Japan outfit that have not beaten a Tier 1 side since the 2019 World Cup.

England’s Premiership season has restarted and so the Red Rose should be back to full fitness. They look a decent price to get one over the world number three this weekend.
