Wigan Warriors’ superstar half-back Bevan French insists that the club’s historic feat of winning all four major trophies in 2024 will only drive them on to achieve even more ahead of the 2025 Betfred Super League season.

The Warriors won the Betfred World Club Challenge, Challenge Cup, League Leaders’ Shield and Super League Grand Final last term, becoming the first team in the summer era to claim the quadruple in the same calendar year.

Now, the Rob Burrow Award winner is backing his side to be driven on by those achievements.

Wigan Warriors 2025 Odds

  • To win Super League @ 6/4
  • To win the Challenge Cup @ 5/2
  • To win the treble (Challenge Cup, League Leaders' Shield & Grand Final) @ 12/1
  • Bevan French to win Man of Steel @ 8/1

“We were encouraged to go and celebrate [after the Grand Final], and I was away with my friends and family straight away, celebrating, and we celebrated as a team for a few days,” French tells Betfred.

“Probably a month later, when you’re sitting alone having a bit of quiet time by yourself, you realise what you’ve achieved is a big thing. But things like that become infectious and it makes you want to do more great things moving forward.”

And French’s partner in the halves, England scrum-half Harry Smith, says the togetherness of Wigan’s stable playing unit has been a bedrock for their successes.

“Except for Adam Keighran, I think this back line has played together now for three years, as well as some of the middles, so we all know each other’s game and I think we can take that as a positive,” Smith explains. “I don’t see many teams having all their backs playing together for three years.”

That cohesion is something French insists goes further than the rugby pitch.

“Away from the field, the trust and care that everyone has for each other, whether it’s the players or the coaching staff, everyone is genuinely mates off the field. That goes through the whole building, it’s a great place to be really.

“It’s really family-oriented, people want to be there at the club. The squad’s down in the community doing things at schools and stuff like that, so the community has come onside with it.

“You learn a lot as a player because you’ve got all the people around, people who have been greats of the game like Sean O’Loughlin and Tommy Leuluai, who have gone on to the coaching staff.

“We’ve still got great older players in our team now, like Liam Farrell and Willie Isa, all their knowledge is passed down and it’s just been done the right way. It’s a great place to be a rugby league player and a person as well.”

Wigan crowned 2024 with the retention of their Super League title, beating Hull Kingston Rovers 9-2 in the Grand Final at Old Trafford, and they begin their latest defence with a home clash against Leigh Leopards on Thursday, February 13.

There’s also a glamourous date in the early-season calendar for Matt Peet’s side, as they head to Las Vegas to face Warrington Wolves on Saturday, March 1 in the first-ever Super League fixture to be played in the United States of America.

The Warriors are 6/4 to win a third straight Grand Final in 2025, a title which would see them become the joint-second most successful club in Super League history with eight crowns.
