York knights vs hull fc

York are back home to play Hull FC this Thursday night (8pm BST, Sky Sports+) after a huge win at Magic weekend which has created daylight at the foot of the Betfred Super League table.

The Knights' win over rock bottom Huddersfield has propelled them up to 12th, and they can leapfrog Hull with another win this week. Read on for my York Knights vs Hull FC predictions, alongside team news and match odds.

Team News

Despite the short turnaround from the trip to Merseyside, York boss Mark Applegarth names an unchanged squad this week, with none of his injured stars yet ready to return but thankfully no new issue picked up at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

That means hooker Denive Balmforth can play against his parent club, and there was no ban for Cody Hunter from this week's Match Review Panel.

After losing out to Hull KR in the derby, FC make a few changes this week.

Yusuf Aydin is available after serving his six-game ban, and he takes the place of loanee Jeremiah Mata-utia who has gone back to Leeds Rhinos

Harvey Barron is back, but that good news is tempered by the loss of Davy Litten who failed his Head Injury Assessment at Magic, so that is an obvious change in the backline.

Another loanee Ethan O'Neill is fit to feature again, and he takes the place of youngster Will Hutchinson.

A lengthy Black and Whites injury list still includes the likes of Will Pryce, John Asiata, Sam Lisone and Ligi Sao.

Winning Margin: Hull FC 1-12 points @ 21/10

York produced an impressive display to wound Huddersfield at Magic and it now looks highly likely the Giants will finish bottom.

We backed Huddersfield to finally come good with a narrow win, but their awful season just rolls on. At least York's reliable David Noafaluma came up with the goods for us in the anytime market with another 11/10 anytime try.

As for Hull FC, their derby went pretty much exactly as predicted, with champions KR winning 26-12 in a game in which we tipped them to win by 13+.

This contest could be anything. Both sides have big names sidelined, York are probably over-achieving while Hull are definitely under-achieving. That leaves us with a game that both sides will be confident of winning.

The handicap is narrow at just 4 points, with the Black and Whites starting as favourites with Betfred. Watching how they played for the first half of the derby I would go along with that, but York on their own patch can get up a head of steam and cause a few problems.

The fixture earlier this season saw the Knights seal a famous 17-16 away win, and I would be very surprised if this one was not close too.

York will go above Hull with a win and their fans can make that happen. But I am still hanging on to the belief that this Hull team will come good, and that has to start in a game like this.

David Nofoaluma anytime tryscorer @ 6/5

More great options in the anytime market this week and after finally going with a player I keep highlighting without backing, I'm going to stick with him.

York’s former NRL flyer David Nofoaluma is now returning consistently, and with six tries in his last six games 6/5 looks like good value on home soil.

There should be points in this for both sides, so Hull's main man Lewis Martin at 8/11 and the returning Harvey Barron on the other wing (10/11) are obvious shouts.

For those looking for value bets I like Balmforth against his parent club at 4/1 and Hull's lively utility Amir Bourouh at 7/1.
