Wigan Warriors vs Warrington Wolves Prediction: Back Keighran to make difference in derby

A narrow derby win over St Helens at Magic Weekend elevated Wigan back to second in the Betfred Super League table, and they can make another big statement this Friday night against the team they leapfrogged - Warrington (8pm BST, live on Sky Sports Action).
The Wire have had a little wobble as injuries start to bite, but the Warriors have looked strong since their Challenge Cup win and are favourites to kick on here.

Wigan Warriors vs Warrington Wolves Odds
Team News
Both sides have been dealt some big injury news, with the Warriors missing England forward Junior Nsemba and half-back Jack Farrimond.
The latter has been ruled out for up to 12 weeks so may only return for a potential Grand Final.
There are four Wigan changes, with young winger Nathan Lowe having been stretchered off at Magic, and Finlay Yeomans also dropping out of the squad.
England prop Luke Thompson though is back up front which is a big boost. Young Josh Cartwright is recalled from his loan to cover Lowe, while Evan Buckley and Lewis Daniels are promoted into the 21-man squad.
While Wigan make four changes, Warrington make five. Wolves head coach Sam Burgess has young full-back Cai Taylor-Wray back in contention after an injury-ravaged season that began in electrifying fashion. He may not be fit to play yet I would suspect.
Centre Toby King is back too for what would be a 200th Wolves appearance, which is perfect timing given the loss of his deputy Arron Lindop for the next six weeks. And up front Joe Philbin and Toff Sipley are both back from injury too to bolster a pack that has been overrun in the last fortnight.
Ben Hartill is back from his loan with hooker Sam Powell suspended, while Jake Thewlis, Tommy Rhodes, Tom McKinney and Charlie McKler are the other men to make way.
Lindop, Josh Thewlis, Sam Stone and Jordy Crowther remain on the injury list.
Handicap 3-way Wigan -10 @ 20/21
We had Leigh to beat Warrington against the form book last week, and the Leopards were good value for a comfortable 24-6 win which showed that they are starting to move up through the gears.
Warrington fans will tell you that defeat has been coming, with a heap of injuries coinciding with a lack of creativity in attack and shortage of oomph up front.
So can they get back on track in Wigan? I would like to think we will see a response from the Wire given the players returning from injury but I can't see past this Wigan side winning again.
The handicap is 10 points and that is pretty fair given what the two sides have produced in the last fortnight, and I would fancy the home side to justify that.
Warrington have not looked like scoring many points in their last two outings which is a concern.
Wigan on the other hand are scoring points for fun, and the loss of Wembley hero Farrimond should not hamper them too much given Bevan French has just displaced the youngster in the starting line-up.
Nsemba's absence is a blow but one i feel they can overcome. Much of Warrington's hopes will depend on how many of those players returning from injury are actually fit to feature in the matchday 17. I feel most of them will be touch and go, so the betting may look a little different within an hour of kick-off - it could be well worth keeping an eye on the line-ups this week.
The game earlier this year saw Warrington superb 23-6 winners at the Halliwell Jones, while the last game at Wigan actually produced a devastating 40-4 Warrington win. (In 2024 - the 2025 game was played in Vegas).
So there are omens there for a Wire win, but I fancy this Wigan team to get another stylish job done.

Adam Keighran Anytime Tryscorer @ 6/4
Warrington will probably make me eat my words but I am ignoring them in the anytime market this week. The Wolves are struggling to create and have crossed for just five tries in the last 240 minutes of rugby. Two of those have gone to England wing Matty Ashton, who is rated Wire's most likely scorer with Betfred at 6/5.
Wigan's last 240 minutes of rugby for comparison has seen them score an incredible 20 tries. Granted 13 of those came at York where they could actually have had a century before going cold in the last 20 minutes.
Full-back Jai Field (4/5) has been a regular returner for followers of this column, but I'm sticking my hopes this week on a man who looks to have rediscovered some of his best form. Goal-kicking right centre Adam Keighran has scored in each of his last three outings and is a great value 6/4 with Betfred to grab another this week.
