Hull KR vs Wakefield Trinity Odds

Team News

Hull KR responded well to that 34-8 loss at Leeds, with a big effort to down Hull FC at Magic Weekend. They will need more of the same this weekend and are again without prop Tevita Pangai Junior who is serving a six-match ban for gouging.

The injury news is mixed for the Robins. The positive stuff sees the long-awaited return to the squad of France international full-back Arthur Mourgue, and the inclusion of England winger Joe Burgess after his short-term shoulder issue.

But back row forward Dean Hadley is still missing after a failed Head Injury Assessment at Leeds, while Tom Amone is again sidelined by the serious facial injury that he suffered in the Rhinos game.

England international Jez Litten and forward Sauaso Sue returned from injury at Magic Weekend and both came through okay so retain their spots.

Wakefield make just one change to the side who toasted the Tigers on Merseyside.

The unfortunate Jack Sinfield suffered an injury at Everton and drops out, with his place going to Myles Lawford - his first involvement this year.

The half-back pairing therefore would appear to be Jake Trueman and either Lawford or Max Jowitt.

There is still no Oli Pratt, Mason Lino or Corey Hall and it is testament to Trinity that they have not looked like they are missing them.

Handicap 3-Way - Hull KR -12 @ 21/20

This is a great match-up between two very hungry sides and as much as I would anticipate a Rovers win, I would genuinely not be surprised to see Wakefield spring another upset. Key to their hopes I feel is how they adjust to disruption in the halves, with no Sinfield or Lino this week.

The incentive is obvious for Rovers, who will leapfrog Trinity with a win thanks to a vastly superior points difference. And that derby win over Hull FC may not have been flawless, but it will have certainly been a morale-booster heading into this one.

The handicap gives Wakefield a 10-point start which is intriguing, and does tempt me slightly to back the underdogs here. The pair only met at the start of June in West Yorkshire, and Wakefield won a thriller there 26-24.

However, KR are good at home against Wakefield - despite their recent struggles away to trinity. Rovers have won their last four home games against Wakey, who haven't won here since the summer of 2021.

Logic dictates a Robins win at their raucous home ground, but I do have this niggling doubt about backing them this week, having seen how rampant Trinity can be - and were - on Merseyside.

Added to that, both of our Wakefield selections landed last week, with the 13+ point win over Cas easily negotiated and the Tom Johnstone/Jason Qareqare double land nicely at 11/4. So I'm quite keen to back Daryl Powell's men again, despite knowing Rovers have the ability to feed you your words back with interest.

I'm going to go with the handicap, and I'm tempted to back the visitors, but have bottled it really. I feel the disruption in the Wakefield halves might just give the hosts too much ball to play with.

We went for a Mikey Lewis / Lewis Martin double at Magic and it looked like it had landed at 3/1 but for the intervention of the video referee to rule out Martin!

Lewis at 4/5 along with the returning Burgess (4/6) are the favourites with Betfred to cross this week and you wouldn't go far wrong backing either of the Robins stars.

There is slightly more value in the Trinity team given the overall match odds, so if they are to have some joy then I like Tom Johnstone to score again at 5/4 after his double at Magic.

Centre Cam Scott is also worth a look - he helped himself to two and could have had a Magic hat-trick, and the former Hull FC man is 11/4 to score against his old rivals.
