Huddersfield hull kr

Champions Hull KR will look to produce a big response to their deflating trip to Las Vegas, when they head across the M62 to Accu Stadium on Sunday to face a Huddersfield Giants side also without a win at the foot of the Betfred Super League (15:00 GMT, Sky Sports+).

Rovers have lost both domestic games either side of their epic World Club Challenge success, while the Giants have lost all three so far and can anticipate another tough afternoon. My Huddersfield Giants vs Hull KR predictions, the latest team news and Betfred's odds can all be found below.

Team News

Robins boss Willie Peters has promised fans they will see an immediate response from his team after their 58-6 humbling in Las Vegas.

This is the first of back-to-back games against the Giants, who they face again in the Betfred Challenge Cup next weekend. Peters would have been forgiven for ringing the changes this week, but it is the sign of his coaching ethos and mentality that he names an unchanged squad and instead challenges them to repay his faith.

Long-term absentees are full-back Arthur Mourgue and forward Jordan Dezaria, but otherwise it is as strong as it gets.

Giants boss Luke Robinson pulled no punches last week after watching his team lose for a third successive time. He called their performance "rubbish" so it will be interesting to see if gets a response too.

Huddersfield are without Sam Halsall and Zac Woolford this week. Halsall has a hamstring issue and Woolford observes concussion protocols. Their places go to Tom Hardy and Alex Chippendale, two academy players.

Huddersfield Giants vs Hull KR Odds

The world champs are heavy favourites, with Betfred pricing them at 1/6 to get off the schneid. The Giants are 9/2, implying an 18.2% probability of a home win, with the draw 18/1.

Huddersfield have the benefit of a 19.5-point start on the two-way handicap, and are 10/11 in that bracket. Rovers are 5/6 to cover the four-score edge.

Hull KR to Win Both Halves @ 1/2

Not a sexy or odds-busting pick this one, but I can't have much confidence in a handicap for a team absolutely stuffed last week. I fully expect the champions to win this game, so am instead playing safe on Peters' men winning both halves, which it seems unthinkable that they will not do.

It will click soon for Rovers and now the distractions of Vegas and the World Club Challenge are done, I'm sure we will see a return to domestic form.

It is the defeat at York that makes me as cautious as the Vegas horror show at the moment, which is why I am staying clear of the handicap - which may well prove correct.

The two meetings last year were not kind to Huddersfield, with Rovers winning 34-0 and 50-4 in this corresponding fixture. Not a particularly friendly aggregate for the Giants. So this could be ugly but Rovers are not quite at the races yet, which is why I am playing safe.

Jez Litten Anytime Tryscorer @ 7/4

My Rovers pick in Vegas was one of the Robins' unsung heroes of the last year or so. Jez Litten is consistently excellent every time I watch him play and was my 5/2 pick to cross in the States. And he did score - but the try was ruled out, and the less said about the rest of the game for Peters' men the better, with winger Joe Burgess scoring their only try.

There should be far more joy for the Robins this week, with wingers Burgess (1/2) and Tom Davies (4/6) both excellent picks.

But I definitely saw enough from Litten to keep faith in the hooker to score in this one, with his 7/4 odds making him a far more appealing proposition than the other men likely to be in support of a clean break, namely Mikey Lewis (4/5) and full-back Jack Broadbent (1/1).

For Huddersfield I look at their flair player George Flanagan (6/4) and outside back Jacob Gagai (9/4). Good luck!
