The Sportsman to screen live Betfred Challenge Cup Round 2 match

The Sportsman's live and free coverage of the Betfred Challenge Cup will continue when they follow Orrell St James on the road to Wembley, with live coverage of their second-round clash against York Acorn on Sunday 28^th January (Kick-off 2pm).

Orrell, the reigning North West Premier Division champions, got their season up and running live on The Sportsman on Sunday with an impressive 20-4 first-round win against local rivals Haresfinch in front of a bumper crowd at Bankes Avenue. Sam Burns, Lewis Round, Adam Ball and Liam McLoughlin all crossed for Orrell in a feisty encounter which proved a big hit with The Sportsman's audience.

After seeing off that first tricky hurdle, Sean McHugh’s side are looking to emulate their Betfred Challenge Cup run from 2023. Twelve months ago they made it through to the third round before narrowly losing to Betfred League One outfit Midlands Hurricanes.

Standing in their way are National Conference League Premier Division side York Acorn, who enter the second round alongside the rest of the NCL clubs.

Coached by Josh Mortimer, Acorn are also looking to emulate their cup exploits from last season, which saw them travel to former Betfred Super League champions Bradford Bulls in the third round.

With Championship and League One sides again set to enter the fray in round three, a potential glamour tie against a professional outfit is the prize on offer to the winners of the fascinating clash, and rugby league fans will be able to watch every pass, tackle and try; live, exclusive and free on the Sportsman Rugby League YouTube channel.
