Hull KR and Leigh Leopards will meet for the second time this month as the two Challenge Cup finalists go head-to-head at Craven Park on Friday in the Betfred Super League.

The Leopards ran out 17-16 winners against Hull KR to win the Challenge Cup final, and they will now look to establish themselves as a top-four club heading into the playoffs.

Willie Peters’ Hull KR are on the fringes of the top six, with points difference keeping them out, and they will hope home advantage will make all the difference this week.

Hull KR’s Corey Hall has still not proved his fitness, but forward Elliot Minchella returns in what is a huge boost for Peters. Minchella returns after serving a one-match penalty notice, and it is Luis Johnson who misses out.

Oliver Gildart, who has already signed a contract for Hull KR for the 2024 season, has been named in Leigh’s 21-man squad.

Adrian Lam is still without Ricky Leutele, but he is their only long-term absentee. Winger Josh Charnley has been named in the travelling party, but he is a doubt due to a rib injury.

Friday’s tie should be another belter, and if this match is anything like the Challenge Cup final, we are in for a treat. The two teams played out a breathtaking contest, and Leigh finally had their hand raised after a gruelling tussle.

The Robins have been impressive at home this season, but they have started to struggle of late under Peters. Hull KR have lost three matches in a row in all competitions, but they should be motivated by revenge this week.

Sadly, they are facing a Leigh side that have already beaten them three times this year. Leigh scored at least 30 points in two of those games, and at odds against, they are good value for another big win on their travels.

Every Leigh doubter has been silenced this season, and a victory will all but secure their top-four spot.

Friday’s match will be a special night for former Leeds Rhinos winger Tom Briscoe, who is set to make his 400th career appearance.

Briscoe has represented Leigh, Leeds and Hull FC in Super League, and he can cap the night off in style.

The veteran winger has loved playing Hull KR this season, scoring tries in all three meetings against the Robins. He has scored four in total, and if anyone can find space against Hull KR out wide, it is the 33-year-old.
