Huddersfield Giants vs Hull KR Prediction: Comfortable win for visitors

A Sunday afternoon visit from the Betfred Super League leaders is the last thing you need when you are rock bottom of the table, but that is what Huddersfield Giants and their under-pressure coach Luke Robinson are facing up to this week as Hull KR come to town.  (Kick-off 3pm)

The Giants have lost each of their first five games and were wretched in defeat at crisis club Salford last week, while Rovers go from strength to strength in a 100 per cent start.

Hull KR could hand a debut to full-back Arthur Mourgue following his move from Catalans Dragons, having been sat in the stands so far since his move from Perpignan.

He may have to contend with a place on the bench considering the form of Jack Broadbent but he will be keen to display the razor sharp footwork that made him so highly regarded in France.

Mourgue takes the place of AJ Wallace, while forward Eribe Doro comes into the squad in place of Bill Leyland in the second change to last week's squad.

Huddersfield are boosted by the return of England prop Tom Burgess, with Jacob Gagai also returning to the squad. Niall Evalds broke his foot in wretched luck on his debut last weekend, Liam Sutcliffe is out too, as is Jack Murchie.

We had a pretty good week with our selections last time out, but one of the ones to let us down was siding with Huddersfield at fellow strugglers Salford. I was gobsmacked by how bad the Giants were and can't remember having seen such a feeble performance from them, against a Red Devils team who are absolutely beleaguered by off-field strife.

The return of Burgess and Gagai will help, but it won't help them get near enough to trouble Hull KR, and if I'm honest I'm not too sure that Huddersfield will make any kind of dent on the scoreboard.

This fixture last season was a 12-point Hull KR win, having won by 8 on their previous visit too. Each of the last four meetings has been a Robins win, this one will be number five, and I have the visitors to win this by at least three scores.

Arthur Mourgue anytime tryscorer @ 5/4

Bit of a punt this as Mourgue may well have to start on the bench, but either way he is one to watch as soon as he establishes himself in the team.

The Frenchman will be a big asset to Willie Peters' stylish table-toppers and proved a handy anytime-tryscorer selection last season when at the Dragons.

Sam Tomkins raves about Mourgue and the decision to sell him was purely a business one. I always like Mourgue for a try against any opponent, the only issue here is whether he starts.
