Huddersfield Giants vs Castleford Tigers Odds

There's little separating the two sides in the betting at time of publication. Hosts Huddersfield are marginal favourites at 8/11 - an implied probability of 57% - while Castleford can be backed at 6/5 (45%). A tie is available at 16/1.

Adam Swift is Betfred's 8/1 favourite to open the scoring, ahead of Innes Senior at 9/1. Sam Halsall is available at 10/1, while it's 11/1 bar.

Team News

The Giants make four changes and it is all positive news for head coach Luke Robinson. Back in the mix are last season's top try scorer Adam Swift, Matty English, Zac Wolford and Kieran Rush.

Liam Sutcliffe picked up a groin injury in last week's defeat at Leeds so he drops out, as do academy stars Jacob Algar and Max Merta plus Aidan McGowan.

Still sidelined are key men Tui Lolohea and Adam Clune.

Castleford boss Danny McGuire makes three changes for the biggest game of his season so far. The big news is the arrival of Tom Amone who replaces the departing Sylvester Namo. Amone has signed for Hull KR from Canterbury Bulldogs from next season but joins the Tigers on loan until then.

A further double boost sees the return from suspension of winger Innes Senior, while prop Brad Singleton is back too and should make his 250th career appearance. Lee Kershaw and Jason Qareqare drop out.

Huddersfield -2 @ 20/21

This may not be one for the purists or a tactical masterclass but it is a contest of real significance and full of intrigue. Huddersfield have - in spells at least - been way better than their big fat zero in the win column suggests. Castleford really haven't, with their only victory coming against crisis club Salford.

So this really good be anything, and genuinely could go either way. Looking at the squads and recent meetings, both favour Huddersfield.

The Giants have won their last five home meetings with the Tigers, scoring well in each of those meetings with 34, 20, 36, 36 and 36. I'm not expecting a 20-30 point blowout given how much both sides have struggled but have the home side to edge this by a score or two.

Both of these head coaches are under real pressure and I fear for the losing party here. It could be tight, ugly and cagey but I am leaning towards the Giants to secure their first win of the season.

Huddersfield Giants vs Castleford Tigers - Handicap 3-Way Huddersfield -2

Odds correct at time of publishing.

Innes Senior anytime tryscorer @ 5/4

Returning from suspension in the nick of time, Senior remains Castleford's main attacking threat and he will be eyeing a successful return against this leaky Huddersfield defence.  A former Huddersfield player, Senior enjoyed a fruitful 17-try campaign with the Tigers last season and can add to his two 2025 scores in this one.

I would suggest you could take your pick from the selection of outside backs from either side, but Senior is my man this week.
