Huddersfield Giants appear to have the perfect chance to arrest their recent slum when they welcome hapless Hull FC to West Yorkshire on Friday for a round 13 clash in Betfred Super League (kick-off 19:45 BST).

The Giants may not have won since the middle of April and are on a run of five straight home defeats, but Hull arrive on a horrible 10-match losing streak. Here are my Huddersfield Giants vs Hull FC predictions...

Huddersfield Giants vs Hull FC Tips

  • Handicap 3-way Alternative 2: Huddersfield Giants -18 @ 17/10
  • Esan Marsters anytime tryscorer @ 6/5

Team News

Huddersfield are still without their top tryscorer and talisman Adam Swift through an injury that now looks set to keep him sidelined for some time. Veteran prop Chris Hill though came through his return unscathed last week against Leigh Leopards and will continue in the side, as did Tom Deakin.

Maverick Jake Connor is named in the squad despite being left out last week. Boss Ian Watson must decide whether to hand a debut to former Hull man Andre Savelio after including the forward in his squad for the first time.

Hull make a couple of changes from last week, with Davy Litten and Matty Laidlaw both returning to contention. Litten has been on loan at York Knights, where he has played twice in the Betfred Championship, while Laidlaw is recalled to the squad after being out of favour.

Dropping out are Will Gardiner and Jack Charles, who took a knock to the knee in academy action last week. Hull are expected to partner Ben Reynolds with Jake Trueman in the halves once again, while Jack Walker and Logan Moy will fight for the full-back spot. Herman Ese’ese is also available after he was cleared by the RFL of all charges against him following a complaint of 'verbal abuse' by London Broncos in a game earlier this month.

Handicap 3-way Alternative 2: Huddersfield Giants -18 @ 17/10

Hull are in such disarray that I consider them unbackable at the moment. I have spoken to others on the rugby league circuit who believe a win is not a million miles away, but I am not in that camp and feel that the club has huge issues as they play out the season with interim head coach Simon Grix. Not only have they lost their last 10 matches, they have won just once in 19 dating back to last year and I can’t see where that elusive win is going to come from.

They will arrive in Huddersfield thinking this is their chance, against a Giants team without their top tryscorer and on a wretched losing run of their own. But Watson is too good of a coach to see his team continue down this road and I think this is the game in which they return to winning ways.

Hull haven’t won here since 2019 and I would expect that run to go on, with the home side a strong fancy to win by a couple of clear scores. Looking at the handicap market, the -18 start is the one that tempts me at 17/10 (implying a 37% probability).

Huddersfield to win -18 @ 17/10

Esan Marsters anytime tryscorer @ 6/5

I like the look of the Giants' centres in this game. Kevin Naiqama has scored tries in the last two meetings against Hull and was also on the scoresheet last week as his side lost to Leigh. Naiqama is 4/5 to score anytime but I am going to look to the other side of the pitch, where Esan Marsters represents value at 6/5 to cross in the 80 minutes.

Marsters' performances have caught the eye this season and he has been snapped up to join Salford Red Devils for 2025. The former New Zealand international starred in the NRL with 86 appearances prior to his arrival in Super League, and the form he has shown this season makes him a great shout to find a try against one of the worst defences in the British game.

Esan marsters anytime tryscorer @ 6/5
