A Sunday West Yorkshire derby pits winless Huddersfield Giants against a Wakefield Trinity side who enjoyed an attention-grabbing Super League win at Warrington last weekend. (Kick-off 3pm)

Daryl Powell's Wakefield have impressed on their return to the big time while rebuilding Huddersfield will see a Cup run as a chance to kickstart their own season.

Team news

Huddersfield Giants boss Luke Robinson is without half-back Adam Clune after it was revealed he will be out for another two months through injury. Clune made his first appearance of the season against Wigan last week but has picked up a fresh problem.

Also out this week are Jacon Gagai through concussion protocols, and prop Tom Burgess with a strain. Still out are George King, Joe Greenwood and Zac Woolford but better news sees the return from illness of playmaker Tui Lolohea, with Sam Halsall also back from injury.

Wakefield name an unchanged squad after their impressive win at Warrington and will seek to build on that performance with a place in Monday night's quarter-final draw.

Huddersfield beat Hunslet to make it this far but have been in desperate need of a spark in 2025. Four defeats from four represents the kind of start for Robinson that many feared for the Giants boss, and this feels like the perfect opportunity to kick start their season.

But I like the look of this Wakefield side after their promotion from the Betfred Championship. Two wins from four Super League games could have been even better but for a near-miss at home to league leaders Hull KR.

The pack looks strong and there is real strike out wide, and I fancy Powell's men to get the job done on their travels here.

The Giants do tend to fare pretty well at home against Wakefield, having won each of the last three meetings between the sides at the John Smith's Stadium.

Indeed Wakefield haven't won here since 2019, but I have to go with my gut and that suggests this one may go their way.
