A trip to Perpignan for Wakefield this week after their thrilling 13-12 derby win over Castleford, and they'll find a Catalans side on a three-match winning run. (Kick-off 17:30, Sky Sports+)

Trinity have been a welcome addition to this year's Betfred Super League, while the signs are that the Dragons are getting stronger as the days get hotter.

Catalans Dragons vs Wakefield Trinity

Catalans Dragons are the 4/11 favourites to win here, while Wakefield Trinity are 23/10 to come away from France with the victory. The draw is available at 18/1.

Team News

Wakefield travel with a relatively unchanged squad from that win over the Tigers, with prop Ky Rodwell the one man to drop out. He's ruled out through injury and is replaced by Jayden Myers.

The Dragons make a couple of changes with two key men returning to action. England forward Elliott Whitehead is available again after suspension and Australian flyer Nick Cotric is back too.

Clement Martin and Leo Darrelatour are the men to make way.

Handicap 3-way Catalans -10 @ 11/10

I have been expecting far more of the Dragons this season than Steve McNamara's side produced in a very disappointing 2024 and they are finally starting to come good.

Wakefield meanwhile have defied expectations so far this year since their promotion and both teams have eight points from their first eight games.

Catalans run of three straight wins is actually six from their last seven and I feel they will have enough to come through this potentially tricky contest.

Wakefield needed a late Mason Lino drop goal to complete a remarkable comeback win over rivals Castleford last week  - a result which very easily could have been a third straight defeat.

I sense this will be a difficult place for them to go - you almost have to get used to the unique atmosphere of an away day at the Stade Gilbert Brutus, and Trinity have not experienced it for a couple of years. In fact Wakefield's last win in Perpignan was way back in 2018, a run of seven straight home wins over Wakefield.

Given the way this Trinity side has played under Darryl Powell I don't expect them to roll over, but I do have the home side to see this one through by a couple of scores.

Tommy Makinson anytime try scorer @ 4/5

Our patience with England winger Tommy Makinson came good in style last week as he finally grabbed his first tries in a Dragons shirt - a hat-trick of them.

I went with Catalans to beat Salford by over 20 points and Makinson to score an anytime try, which came in at 23/20.

The former St Helens man is a streaky player so I expect him to go on a run now, and he should enjoy playing Wakefield despite their impressive start to the year.

You may find kinder odds elsewhere in the outside backs but I'm sticking on Tommy to score again.
