On Saturday, the Catalans Dragons look to respond to a surprise home defeat by Leigh Leopards when they welcome a Huddersfield Giants side in dire need of a win themselves (kick-off 17:30 BST, 18:30 local, live on Sky Sports Arena).

Steve McNamara’s Dragons have lost their last three and seek a first win in over a month, while Huddersfield have won only once in their last seven games. That makes Catalans Dragons vs Huddersfield Giants predictions harder to gauge...

  • Arthur Mourgue anytime tryscorer @ 2/1

Catalans Dragons vs Huddersfield Giants Odds

Despite being beaten on home turf last time out, the Dragons are favourites to come out on top here at 4/11. The Giants are 23/10 to replicate their Challenge Cup success in Perpignan earlier this season, while it's 18/1 for the game to finish level in 80 minutes and golden point to decide the destination of the points.

Team News

The Dragons have another strong squad out. Hooker Michael McIlorum, Arthur Romano and Alrix Da Costa all returned against Leigh last week, and this week sees Tariq Sims back in the mix too – he replaces Matthieu Laguerre.

Huddersfield’s losing run has coincided with the absence of winger Adam Swift, and their prolific top try scorer is still missing.

Andre Savelio was sent off on his debut last week but he was not handed a suspension from the disciplinary panel this week and is therefore free to play.

Handicap 3-way Alternative 2: Catalans Dragons -14 @ 17/10

I went for this exact same bet on the handicap last week and got nowhere near, but I am sticking true to my belief that this is a good Catalans side merely going through a sticky spell.

Leigh last week were in hindsight a team on an upward curve, but I worry for this Giants side and fear that Ian Watson’s position is under some scrutiny right now.

I spoke to one of the senior Huddersfield players after their loss at Hull KR last weekend and he was alarmed at the way his side fell away.

The Giants have actually got a really good record in the south of France. They won a stunning Challenge Cup tie this year by 34-6, indeed they have won on five of their last six trips to Perpignan, which is a remarkable run.

But I still feel this is a home win, despite what that history book tells me, and am going to look to a victory by three scores or more for the home side. The 17/10 odds imply a 37% probability.

Catalans -14 @ 17/10

Arthur Mourgue anytime tryscorer @ 2/1

The Catalans go-to attacking weapon has been our go-to tryscorer bet this season and has justified out faith with returns on multiple occasions. He came up short against Leigh last week but much as I am keeping faith with the Dragons, I will do so with Mourgue to fire his side to victory.
