Fresh from a weekend off, the Canberra Raiders should be fit and firing when they welcome the North Queensland Cowboys to GIO Stadium on Friday morning (09:00 kick-off)

The Raiders find themselves battling for a top-four place this season, while the Cowboys have ground to make up after their hammering at the hands of the New Zealand Warriors last time out. Canberra have a poor recent record against the Cowboys but can put that right with victory in the Australian capital this week.

Canberra Raiders vs North Queensland Cowboys Betting Tips

  • Canberra Raiders -2.5 handicap @ 20/21
  • Over 48.5 total points @ 10/11

Team News

Starting with the Raiders, there are not too many changes after Canberra’s golden-point victory over the Dolphins in Round 13.

Back-rower Hudson Young returns from State of Origin duty to join the forwards, with Ata Mariota moving to the bench and Simi Sasagi dropping out of the squad.

As for the Cowboys, Murray Taulagi and Reece Robson both return for North Queensland, which will come as a boost for the visitors.

Jordan McLean is also back in the line-up at prop, while Maroons star Jeremiah Nanai has been named on the bench and will be looking to make an impact when called upon.

Match Odds

The Raiders are 4/5 to claim the win on Friday morning, while the Cowboys are 11/10 to head back to Townsville with the spoils. A draw at GIO Stadium is available at 20/1.

Canberra Raiders -2.5 handicap @ 20/21

The Raiders will be determined to set the record straight on Friday after losing all of their last four meetings with the Cowboys.

North Queensland have a quick turnaround after a 42-12 thrashing on home soil against the New Zealand Warriors on June 8th.

The Raiders have not taken the field since that thrilling win over the Dolphins on June 1st and will be the much fresher of the two sides.

With home advantage, the confidence from that Dolphins win on the road and having the much-needed time off, the Raiders are good value to overcome the handicap here.

Over 48.5 total points @ 10/11

While the Raiders have the ability to win this game, this could well end up being a high-scoring shootout against the Cowboys.

The Raiders have conceded 84 points in their last two games on their own patch and the Cowboys have the attacking game to cause Canberra problems.

This game looks set to be an end-to-end contest, as it was when they met in pre-season at GIO Stadium - a match that finished in a 36-26 win for the Cowboys.

With that in mind, over 48.5 total points in this game looks achievable here.
