St Helens vs Leeds Betfred Challenge Cup clash to be screened live on The Sportsman

The Sportsman will screen the stand-out tie of the Betfred Challenge Cup fourth round in March when St Helens take on Leeds Rhinos live and exclusively on the leading streaming platform.
The two Betfred Super League clubs have combined for 27 victories in the competition over its long history, but one of the 14-time winners Saints and 13-time champs Leeds will go out on March 14 in front of The Sportsman’s cameras.

After trips to York and Halifax in round three, the next stop on The Sportsman’s Road to Wembley is the Totally Wicked Stadium as Leeds look to avenge their last-16 exit to Paul Wellens’ side in 2024.
Both teams, of course, have a rich history in the flagship tournament, with Saints last lifting the trophy in 2021 after seeing off the Castleford Tigers. Meanwhile, the Rhinos’ historic last-gasp win against Salford Red Devils in 2020 came against the backdrop of an empty national stadium, with their last triumph in front of a crowd coming against Hull Kingston Rovers in 2015.
The third round of the Betfred Challenge Cup saw both these sides face amateur opposition as St Helens saw off West Hull whilst the Rhinos welcomed Wests Warriors to AMT Headingley, but with the Betfred Super League season now well underway, this game promises to be played at an intensity fitting of such a historical head-to-head fixture.
Saints-Leeds clashes have accounted for five of the 27 Grand Finals in the summer era, with the Rhinos coming out on top in four of those. And in the Challenge Cup this pair has met a total of 22 times, with both sides collecting 11 wins since their first such meeting in 1911.

They last faced off in a Wembley final back in 1978, with Leeds winning 14-12, but have become familiar foes in the earlier stages in recent years. Their fourth-round fixture will be the eighth tussle in 18 years in the Betfred Challenge Cup, with last year’s match at this stage ending in a 20-6 win to Saints at Headingley.
The Rhinos, then, will be out for revenge when they travel to St Helens on Friday, March 14, with kick-off coming at 20:00 GMT and covering beginning on The Sportsman at 19:45.
The game will be available to stream, live, exclusive and free on The Sportsman Rugby League on YouTube. Click here to subscribe.
