Couple score £10k courtesy of Newcastle’s Wembley win!

A Mediterranean cruise will be all the sweeter for the Nyas family thanks to Newcastle's Wembley win.

For with a little help from hubby Paul, dental nurse Laura Nyas wagered £100 with Betfred on the Magpies beating Liverpool to lift the Carabao Cup, with Dan Burn and Alexander Isak scoring the goals.

And with odds on all that happening at 100/1, it landed them a win of £10,000.

One thing Laura has decided to do is upgrade their summer holiday, which is already booked.

Laura, aged 35 who watched the final on TV at their home in Dinnington, Newcastle said: "We are going on a cruise around the Greek islands and were originally in a cabin, which is on the lower decks.

"Now we've upgraded to a suite with a balcony. We are absolutely over the moon to win - it's a dream come true. I didn't celebrate because the next day I had to sort out our daughter who was allowed to go to school in her Newcastle kit.

"I am actually a Blackburn Rovers fan but Newcastle is definitely my second team. I had no choice about that after meeting Paul 15 years ago and moving up here."

Paul, aged 47 who runs his own drainage cleaning company and used to have a season ticket at St. James' Park, didn't bet at the Cheltenham Festival last week and instead decided to have a wager on his beloved club.

He said: "I had a feeling that we'd have a good chance of winning, because we just wanted it more after all these years without a trophy.

"I also felt local lad Dan Burn would score, as would Isak who is the best striker in the world - and not many people would disagree with me about that!"

The confident Newcastle fans reckon in-form defender Big Dan will play for England against Albania back at Wembley, in the World Cup qualifier on Friday after his surprise call up.

He's been cut to 25/1 at Betfred for the first goal - and 9/1 to hit the target anytime. For the Magpies to go on and achieve a top-four Premier League finish, Betfred have them at 9/4.
