Irish Lotto Big Winner: Lucky Dip lands lady £150k from £1

A lucky Irish Lottery punter at Betfred has walked away with £150,000 from a £1 lucky dip.

The windfall was landed by a retired lady in Yorkshire who chose the lucky dip with a spare £1 in her account, after she had placed her usual bets on birthday-related numbers.

The numbers 4, 6, 8, 19 and 22 all came out on Saturday, March 25, much to the punter's delight, albeit delayed.

She said: "I normally do all my grandkids' birthdays, and I had a spare £1 in the account so I played a lucky dip.

"I play four weeks in advance, so didn’t check the numbers until two weeks afterwards.

"I said to my husband ‘bloody hell, I forgot to do my Betfred Irish’ which never came up anyway, but when I logged into my account I thought there had been an error. I was shaking. He said, ‘What are you shaking for?’ I said, ‘I think we’ve won the Irish!’

"I couldn’t believe it and still didn’t believe it until the money was in my account.

"I said at the beginning of the year that I was going to pack it in as I was getting nothing. Even the National Lottery I play and only ever won £30. But a few things were happening, so I decided I’d carry on, and now this!

"My husband and I are retired so it all helps. I’ve got two sons with two daughters-in-law and six grandkids, so I’ll be treating them. It’s our Golden Wedding Anniversary in a couple of years so can do something special now."
