Betfred Big Winner: Lucky punter wins BOG-boosted £31k on the horses
The joke was on Betfred boss Fred Done after a wisecracking customer smashed the odds to win £31,113.
Joker Terry Robinson, from Liverpool, triumphed with a couple of bets on four horses that all finished first past the post at Hereford and Hexham in a dramatic 45 minutes.
He selected Beat Box, Jackeline, Rattling Road and Tommy Combats in a £5 accumulator and £1 Lucky 15 - and his winnings were boosted by £4,360 thanks to Betfred's Best Odds Guaranteed promotion.
Great grandad Terry, 69, was all smiles as he revealed his reasons for selecting the winners.
Terry explained: "I went for Jackeline as the Border Terrier I have had for three years is called Jack. Then one of my grand children is called Tom so that was why I opted for Tommy Combats.
"Regarding the other two horses - Rattling Road was because it reminded me of my job as a project manager and I was travelling around a lot and then Beat Box because that horse always wins for me.
"What am I going to do with my winnings? Well, I will be picking up the bill for 12 family members to have Christmas dinner out in a restaurant in Crosby.
"My wife? She's got me! Seriously, I will be giving her some money to spend on herself and we'll be going on a weekend break in the new year, probably somewhere in Scotland.
"There will be decent Christmas presents for everyone, including Tom of course. As for Jack, he gets everything he wants anyway but I'll be getting him a new blue collar, definitely not a red one as I'm a big Everton supporter."
Terry, a regular at the Betfred shop on Hawthorne Road near his home in Bootle, often puts the same bet on the horses as well as a football punt at the weekend.
