Scottish football fan Stuart Anderson always backs the outsider, which is why he doesn’t support Rangers or Celtic despite being from Glasgow.

Instead, the 50-year-old delivery man is a lifelong Partick Thistle supporter.

It’s his want to root for the outsider that helped Stuart land an amazing win at Betfred, taking home £7,720 from a six-pound treble.

He backed Crystal Palace and Aston Villa to beat Premier League title challengers Liverpool and Arsenal respectively – and to cap it off he went for Ross County to get the better of second-placed Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

He beat odds of just under 1,300/1, with the Villa victory at 8/1, Palace at 10/1 and Ross County at 12/1.

Now, Stuart plans to splash out on a Caribbean cruise having not been there since his honeymoon 18 years ago.

He said: “I’ve always backed the outsider and that’s why I support Partick. It wouldn’t suit me to be winning every week like all those Rangers and Celtic fans.

“We were last in the Caribbean 18 years ago in St. Lucia on our honeymoon. Since then, we’ve usually gone to Spain, but now I can return on a Caribbean cruise.

“Why did I pick the three outsiders? Well, I like John McGinn at Villa who have been playing well, while Arsenal haven’t been so great lately.

“Regarding Liverpool, they didn’t play at all well against Atalanta and Mo Salah and the other forwards haven’t been scoring much recently so I just thought Palace could win there.

“Finally, with Rangers, I thought they were lucky to draw against Celtic and might come unstuck at Ross County.”

While Stuart – a regular at his local Betfred shop on Paisley Road West in Glasgow – is on a roll, he’s tipping Manchester City to retain the Premier League title, Celtic to be Scottish champions and his own team Partick Thistle to be promoted via the play-offs.

He added: “Regarding my team there is a degree of wishful thinking, but I think we will do it.”

Betfred boss Fred Done said:

“What a remarkable bet by Stuart - a fella who clearly knows what he's talking about.

"I'm delighted to hear he's decided to use some of his winnings to enjoy a second honeymoon in the Caribbean."
