Another shining example of the extraordinary courage and fortitude shown by special people, in the most testing circumstances imaginable. 'Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.'

Duncan Holland met two Kings in four days thanks to his extraordinary fundraising in memory of his daughter, who died of leukaemia aged 12.

The part-time Betfred assistant sales manager at our shop in Pitsea in Essex met King Charles III at a special glitzy Buckingham Palace reception to honour cancer charity workers (pictured, above).

Then four days later he was a VIP guest at the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, where he mingled with horseracing royalty including his boss Fred Done - the self-styled Bonus King.

Duncan, aged 66 who has raised £275,000 over twenty years, said: " I told King Charles, who has himself suffered from cancer, that it was an honour to meet him and he said thank you to me. Queen Camilla was very attentive, and wished me all the best."

Then at Newmarket he met Fred, who was sponsoring the first of the five Classics. Duncan said: "Fred was very kind and told me of his own charity work. Betfred, with their matched funding, support me 100 per cent. I couldn't find a winner at Newmarket but I'm a Spurs fan, so what chance do I have?"

Duncan promised his daughter, who was in London's St Barts Hospital being treated for an aggressive form of leukaemia, that he'd fundraise for the Leukaemia Research Fund.

And that's exactly what Duncan, who has linked-up with Blood Cancer UK, has been doing.

That promise was made  in 1997 and since then he's been behind a star-studded charity football match, numerous school discos, It's A Knockout-style events and after linking-up with fellow fundraiser Phil Mullins they've organised over twenty charity golf days.

Fred said: "It was a great privilege to meet Duncan (pictured below). We at Betfred are incredibly proud of this hard-working fella who has been in our industry for 37 years. Dedicating so much of his life to raise money in memory of his daughter Gemma is highly commendable."
