Betfred Big Winner: Airport transfer driver to join jet set with Nifty 50 consolation prize

A 64-year-old grandad from Scotland has won £10,000 on the Nifty 50 despite missing out by just one number.
Willie Shaw, who spends the working day ferrying passengers to and from Edinburgh Airport, staked just £1 on our popular numbers game at his local shop in Bathgate, West Lothian.
Thanks to Betfred boss Fred Done's consolation prize initiative, Willie (pictured below) found himself in the money despite the Lotto Results not going his way.

He said: "I lost a fiver on the Grand National two years ago and haven't had a bet since.
"I happened to call in and wondered about the Nifty 50 draw being made on the TV and got myself a lucky dip for a pound.
"I'm of course very glad I did as I'll be using the winnings to go on a family holiday to Spain," added Willie, who hasn't yet had time to celebrate due to volunteering for overtime at work.
On the same day, a 70-year-old customer in Preston won £10,000 with a £2,5000 bonus, also from a £1 Lucky Dip on the Nifty 50.
The retired textile worker, who is a Betfred regular, plans to spend his windfall on a holiday to India.
Fred said:
"When we launched Nifty 50 these are exactly the sort of stories we were hoping for. The game is proving increasingly popular."
