Dave Maxted enjoys most sports, but it’s his love for snooker that helped him win big at Betfred.

The 46-year-old always picks numbers one, four and seven when playing the lottery – a nod to the game’s maximum break of 147.

Dave also opted for numbers eight and nine as part of his FIFTY PENCE wager on the Irish Lotto, placed at his local Betfred shop in Denton, Greater Manchester.

The Lotto Results saw all five numbers drawn, and the grocery delivery driver pocketed a cool £20,250.

He said: "I have no immediate plans on how to spend my winnings, but I do intend to watch England play the West Indies in the Caribbean. That's long been an ambition of mine and something my dad always wanted to do.

"I like all sports except rugby. I love Manchester United, although I'm not loving watching how they are playing at the moment.

"I really like cricket at Lancashire, particularly in their heyday with Michael Atherton and Neil Fairbrother. Then there is snooker, boxing and darts. I love most sports really.

"I won £12,000 on the National Lottery nearly 30 years ago but switched to the Irish because the odds are simply so much better."

In addition to his five-fold accumulator, Dave had another two winning bets – a £2 treble on his usual numbers returning £702 and a 50p four-fold on those same numbers plus eight, which returned £2,250.

So, Dave’s accumulative windfall from his £3 total stake was £23,202.

Betfred boss Fred Done said:

"What a great return for Dave, a regular customer of ours for over 20 years. He's clearly loving life with his wide-ranging sporting interests... and that trip to the Caribbean he's planning looks a cracker!"
