Betfred Big Winner: £15k joy on 49s Lotto for retired nurse

A great grandmother from East Anglia has won £15,000 from a £2 wager on the 49s Numbers Lotto at Betfred.

The 72-year-old is a retired nurse who served in the NHS for over 30 years, having switched from being a postwoman to her role at the hospital.

She opted for the numbers 9, 19, 29, 39 and 49 - and all but one (29) were drawn out, leaving her with a problem... what to with her windfall!

She said: "I do like the girls in my local Betfred shop, so there will be a treat for them. I often take them a snack like a bacon roll or a bit of cake if they are working hard on a long shift.

"My husband and I are very family orientated and really we don't need anything at all. The money will, I suppose, come in handy for we are moving home to be closer to my daughters as we want to help out with the children.

"We'll be able to pay for plastering, flooring and maybe even a new bathroom in our new house."
