Betfred Big Winner: Gardener digs out stunning £14k win on English footy champs

There was no way Spurs fan Jimmy Eastwood was going to let his heart rule his head when predicting the winners of England's top four leagues at the start of the 2024/25 season.

Instead, the gardener from Essex put his £10 on Liverpool to win the Premier League, Leeds to top the Championship and Birmingham and Doncaster to be champions in League 1 and League 2 respectively.

He placed the bet at the Betfred shop on High Street, Brentwood and recently picked up his £14,175 windfall.

The big win couldn't have come at a better time for the father-of-two - just four days before he celebrated his 50th birthday!

Jimmy said: "I thought the odds represented good value and I was right. I think they [Liverpool] will win it again in 2026 as it happens, but I won't be able to get on them at 8/1.

"I knew it would be Burnley or Leeds in the Championship, Birmingham were splashing the cash so I was convinced they would win League 1 and I have to admit Doncaster was a random choice.

"I'm a Spurs fan but like Manchester United, they were never going to do anything in the Premier League this season so I steered well clear of them.

"I had a few extra drinks with friends for my birthday and will probably be booking a little holiday. It will be in this country because I'm not one for planes."

Betfred boss Fred Done arranged for Jimmy to be given a bottle of champagne and promised him tickets for the Betfred-sponsored British Masters at the Belfry in August.
