Betfred Big Winner: BOG results in handsome boost to £65k payout

Former steel worker Francis Bourke was due a change in fortune... and it came in the form of a big win at Betfred.
The 67-year-old grandad pocketed £65k from a couple of horse racing bets totalling £35 at the Betfred shop on Lumley Road, Skegness, Lincolnshire.
It was a timely boost for this Betfred regular who's had four major operations in the last five years. He suffered a heart attack and needed a triple bypass op, he's had both hips replaced and has also undergone spinal injury surgery.
Francis took an hour to form his £4 each-way accumulator and 50p Lucky 31, selecting the same five horses - namely Kingston James, Inappropriate and Fierce Warrior at Musselburgh as well as Zain Nights and The Boola Boss at Newbury.
His windfall was enhanced by over £18k thanks to Betfred's Best Odds Guaranteed promotion.
Although Francis lives in Corby, where he worked at the steelworks for 36 years, he was enjoying a seaside break in his caravan when he put the winning bets on.
He said: "It’s a once-in-a-lifetime win and I'm determined to enjoy it after some serious health setbacks.
"How did we celebrate? We had a game of bingo and I had one or two pints of beer.
"We'll be giving dome money to our 14 grandchildren, buying a new electric car and maybe going to Benidorm in the summer if the sun doesn't shine that much in Skegness!
"I've been enjoying having a bet for 50 years and have been with Betfred for 20 years. I've never won this much, ever."
Betfred boss Fred Done said:
"Congratulations to this hard-working fella who fully deserves this slice of luck. Let's hope he gets plenty of sunshine in Skeggy!"
