A man from Hertfordshire is planning the expedition-of-a-lifetime thanks to a huge Slots win at Betfred.

Sam, a 32-year-old originally from Stockport, landed £144k from a £5 bet on the game Crystal Mirror and is spending some of the winnings on a trip to Antarctica.

The Stockport County fan was "blown away" by the jackpot and is already planning his big trip.

When asked about what he was planning to do with the winnings, the reply was unique.

“I can go to Ibiza and party with friends or pay off my mortgage like most," he went on. "But this is money I didn’t expect so I want to do something amazing with it. I want to enhance both mine and my family’s quality of life.

“Watching David Attenborough during Covid I was marvelling at the beauty of Antarctica and thought one day I would love to go, and now I have the chance.

"It takes two days of travelling for a seven-day visit and at some point in 2026 I want to be able to say that I am the most southerly man on the planet. I may see some things which may not exist in a few years’ time.

“The planet does interest me, and I'm not a hot weather fan, so it's ideal!”

Having been raised in Stockport, his allegiance is still pledged to the town's football club who are having a good time of things under Dave Challinor.

“He’s a good lad and I’d say it is the first time I have loved a scouser. My family have been supporting County for almost a century and although I now live down south, I can now go to a few more games a season”.
