Betfred Big Winner: Best Odds Guaranteed boosts punter’s windfall by £18,590

Fish and chips with a pot of tea was how a couple celebrated an amazing win at Betfred.

Eighty-three-year-old Dave Vickery won £4,473 with two bets - a 20p Lucky 15 and a £1 each-way accumulator – on the horses last month.

But thanks to Betfred's Best Odds Guaranteed promotion, his winnings were boosted by a whopping £18,590, taking his windfall to over £23,000.

The veteran punter studied form for an hour and a half and settled on One Man Stroke and Event of Sivola at Catterick together with Night on Earth at Lingfield and Run Joy Run at Kempton - and they were of course all first past the post.

Dave and his wife Irene, who have 14 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren, placed his lucky bet at the Betfred shop on Cornfield Road near their home in Eastbourne.

"We celebrated with our favourite meal of fish and chips and toasted Betfred with a cup of tea," said jubilant Dave, a former HGV driver who was also a foreman in the nuclear industry.

He went on: "We will be splashing out on a nice cruise. We've been to the Mediterranean before so maybe we'll go to see the Fjords."
