In our continuing series of Betfred Insights Lotto educational guides, we take a look at the German Lottery.

We take a look at how the game works, prizes to be won and we show you How to Play the German Lotto Online with Betfred.

How to play the German Lotto?

  • Pick from one to eight numbers (six to eight numbers solely for multiples)
  • Choose your draws (there are two draws a week)
  • Choose how many weeks you would like to play for (one to four weeks)
  • Select your stake (10p minimum)

What is the German Lotto?

The German National Lottery is one of the oldest and largest in Europe and dates back to 1955. Here at Betfred, we deal exclusively with the 6aus49 Lotto, which we have full details of below.

What time is the German Lotto Draw?

The German Lotto 6aus49 draw is held two times a week, taking place on Wednesday (17:25) and Saturday (18:25) in the UK and you can place bets right up to 16:15 on the day of the draw. With Betfred you can bet on both weekly draws and schedule for up to four weeks in advance, so you never miss your chance of winning the big prize.

What are the German Lotto Odds?

3£700
4£10,000
5£150,000

*All pays calculated to a £1 bet.

So how exactly does this work?

The German Lotto 6aus49, as it sounds, is a 49-ball draw with six numbers drawn.

You can pick one to five balls and place as a straight accumulator, which will pay the amounts shown above for a £1 stake. Or you can pick up to eight numbers and then place multiple bets, which will again up your chances of winning, but will subsequently cost more money.

For instance, if you were to choose eight numbers and then to place them all as potential five-folds - at a 10p stake the 56 bets involved would cost you £5.60 with a potential max win of £90,000.60. Obviously if you were to add four-folds, trebles, doubles and singles then that would be more money again on top.

As well as picking your own lucky numbers, you can opt to do a Lucky Dip which will randomly assign you up to five numbers to play. Once you have your favourite numbers, you can store them for future use, so you can simply select them in future weeks and never miss the chance to win.

Betfred has been a trusted place to bet on the German Lotto for a long time and you can see some of the stories of our Lotto Big Winners on our Insights page.

Terms & Conditions

Numbers betting is the name given by Betfred for betting at fixed odds on the results of certain national lotteries, 49's and other such related numbers games. All betting is subject to these Numbers Rules and Betfred General Rules. Betfred Rules will apply to any situations not covered by these Numbers Rules, but in the event of any inconsistency Betfred General Rules will prevail.

Maximum Payout

The maximum pay-out to any one customer, or group/syndicate of customers acting together on the German Lotto, is £150,000 GBP with Betfred, in any one day. Odds are subject to fluctuation.

Bet Confirmation

In order for Lotto/Number bets to be valid you must have received a bet confirmation on your screen. All Lotto/Numbers Bets on a specific draw must be placed (and confirmed by us) before the first number in that draw is drawn. Any bet accepted after this time will be void and stakes returned, win or lose, unless we are satisfied that the bet was placed before the draw started. We accept no responsibility for bets not placed or confirmed in time, for whatever reason. All dates and times displayed on Betfred's Lotto/Number pages are in UK time. The draw dates and times displayed on the bet confirmation are also in UK time.

Draw Selection

Unless you specify a particular draw(s) or date, valid Lotto/Numbers Bets will always be settled on the next draw to take place. Subject to the following, if you specify a particular draw day(s) and choose to enter your selection/s in multiple draws on that day(s) (but on different dates), your valid Lotto/Numbers Bets will only be placed in draws on the day(s) you specify, and for the number of consecutive draws you select. If, for any reason, 2 or more draws take place on the same day/date, unless otherwise specified and subject to the paragraph below, valid Lotto/Numbers Bets will be placed on the main (or, in the event of any dispute, the first) draw to take place on that day/date. If an additional draw for a particular national Lotto is introduced after a valid Lotto Bet has been placed, such advance Lotto Bet will not stand against that additional draw unless the date and time of that additional draw was specifically recorded against the Lotto Bet when it was placed. Therefore, if you choose your Lotto Bet to be valid for the next 6 draws, your Lotto Bets will stand against the next 6 draws specified and dated on your bet confirmation irrespective of any additional draws subsequently added by a national Lotto.

Void/Postponed Draws

If for any reason a draw does not take place or no draw (i.e. result) is published or officially announced, all valid Lotto/Numbers bets on that draw will be made void. If for any reason a draw is postponed and is rescheduled to another time, all valid Lotto/Numbers Bets on that draw will stand for the rescheduled draw(s) unless cancelled by mutual consent before such rescheduled draw(s).

Combinations

Lotto/Numbers Bets cannot be combined with any other betting event, nor may 2 or more draws be combined in accumulative bets.
