David Horne’s biggest ever DIY project has been brought forward after he won £20,000 from a £4 stake with Betfred.
Father of two David, aged 47 will now be able to buy the materials and get started on moving the bathroom and increasing the size of a bedroom at the family home in Leicester to early in the New Year after his Spanish lottery windfall.
But once he’s completed his “biggest challenge” at the Victorian semi-detached he and bank worker wife Dawn-Marie together with their teenage sons can head off on holiday to Florida – a trip they have booked since David’s numbers came up last week.
David, who runs body shop garage Central Cars at Loughborough, is a regular at the Betfred shop near his home at Marlborough Square, Coalville, Leicester.
He said: “I’m literally over the moon. We love our holidays and I can get that massive job at home I’m doing brought forward because I can now afford all the materials.”
David used the four dates in the month of his own, wife Dawn-Marie and two boys’ birthdays – and 5,10,13 and 23 were all drawn.
“I was watching the darts on tv and they were in another room watching a film. I just thought I would check my numbers so went on the Betfred website and there they were. My missus had a gin and tonic and I had a glass of beer by way of celebration and the second one went down well too!
“I always use those numbers and have won smaller amounts in the past – and amazingly £20,000 on the 49’s number game a year ago with the same numbers.”
Leicester City fan David added: “The bathroom is in the middle of the house and one of the bedrooms is too small for a teenager so we are switching them, a project for which we’ve budgeted £10,000. It’s a massive job, a big challenge and now it can all be brought forward before we can get off to the USA on holiday in the summer.”
Betfred boss Fred Done said: “We’re still in November and David and his family have got an exciting 2018 mapped out. That’s all down to him winning big with us from a tiny stake.”
