York Ebor Day 4 Tips: Fortune favours the Brave

The Ebor Festival concludes on Saturday with a seven-race card in store at York, with the Ebor Handicap the feature race of the day. At the time of writing, I have had three winners from my six picks across the first two days of the Festival, while I have had two placed finishes.
Below you will find my York Ebor Day 4 Tips as I look to end the week on a high.
York Ebor Day 4 Tips - Saturday, August 23

13:50 York - Gladius EW @ 11/2
The first race of the day is this Group 3 Stakes race over 1m 1f. There are eight runners declared for this contest and there are some notable contenders, including Thursday winner Bullet Point.
I am seeking better value, however, and so I have turned to GLADIUS for Andrew Balding's yard. He is a progressive three-year-old colt who has won three of his four starts to date. He is gunning for a hat-trick of victories, with his previous two coming over this distance at Sandown and Goodwood respectively.
He is in much tougher company on Saturday but further progress cannot be ruled out for the son of Night Of Thunder. I think he could be a shrewd selection each-way. I think his claims are also strengthened with the experienced Oisin Murphy on board.

14:25 York - Golden Handshake @ 5/1
There are 12 runners declared for this Class 2 handicap over 1m 6f, which might be appealing as Betfred are paying four places instead of three. In this instance, there are plenty of worthy contenders to take a look at, but I like the look of the current second favourite GOLDEN HANDSHAKE for William Haggas' yard.
The three-year-old gelding has won on his past two starts after getting off the mark at Lingfield in June. Like Gladius for my first selection, this will be a test of Golden Handshake's credentials in a tougher field than he's experienced so far, but his career to date has been promising and he could be set for further progress on his first outing over this trip.
He is of course representing a yard who have had recent success in this race, boasting the winners of 2019 and 2022. Tom Marquand is booked for this ride, having steered Golden Handshake to victory on his last appearance at Newbury.

15:00 York - Never So Brave @ 9/4
I round off my picks in the Group 1 City Of York Stakes over 7f, and I am once again turning to the partnership between Balding and Murphy. NEVER SO BRAVE is the entrant for this contest and he heads to the Ebor Festival in excellent form.
The four-year-old gelding has seen things really click for him this season since joining Balding's yard in October. In his three starts for this stable he has posted a second-place finish at Chester before back-to-back successes at Ascot - including the Buckingham Palace Handicap at Royal Ascot.
His latest appearance there saw him make up a lot of ground to win the Group 2 Summer Mile against a player who held a clear lead. It was a very impressive performance and so he is to be respected in this sphere.
