York's Ebor Festival continues on Friday with another seven-race offering - running from 13:50-17:20 - that features the Nunthorpe Stakes.

A 10/1 each-way selection in the big one tops my York Ebor Day 3 tips, which includes a couple of other fancies elsewhere on the card.

York Ebor Day 3 Tips

  • 14:25 - Gregory @ 9/2
  • 15:00 - Camille Pissarro @ 9/2
  • 15:35 - Live In The Dream e/w @ 10/1 - NON-RUNNER

14:25 - Gregory @ 9/2

When star stayer Kyprios is absent, races like the Lonsdale Cup - a Group 2 over an extended two miles - are blown wide-open.

You could make a case for the majority of the nine hopefuls, but it's John & Thady Gosden's GREGORY who appeals most.

After winning the first three starts of his career, including the G2 Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot, the son of Golden Horn is winless in five. However, only one of those performances was truly bad - in the Ascot Gold Cup over an extreme 2m4f - and his most recent one was a return to form.

In fact, it was probably a career-best performance, despite 'only' managing third behind the aforementioned Kyprios and stablemate Sweet William in the Goodwood Cup.

I think two miles on quick ground is optimal for the four-year-old and this easier assignment looks a very good opportunity for him to return to the winners' enclosure.

Odds correct at time of publishing.

15:00 - Camille Pissarro @ 9/2

It's been a fruitful few days on the Knavesmire for Aidan O'Brien and he can enjoy further success with CAMILEE PISSARRO in the Gimcrack Stakes.

As far as I'm concerned the two-year-old Wootton Bassett colt, who cost a mouth-watering 1,250,000gns last October, is overpriced for the Group 2 contest over six furlongs at time of publication.

After a taking debut at Navan in April, he was runner-up in a Group 3 at the Curragh before an underwhelming 11/22 in the Coventry Stakes at Ascot - and he bumped into one when returning to the Curragh for another Group 3 assignment last month.

The 'one' he bumped into was Ger Lyons' incredibly exciting filly Babouche, who franked the form in no uncertain terms by beating O'Brien's Whistlejacket, who claimed the G1 Prix Morny in France last weekend, by over a length.

In my book, that form is as good as anything on offer from his nine rivals and I'm sure we're yet to see the best of him. He's a great bet at the quoted price.

15:35 - Live In The Dream e/w @ 10/1 - NON-RUNNER

The day's feature race is the Nunthorpe - a prestigious Group 1 over the minimum trip of five furlongs.

Last year's renewal was won by Adam West's LIVE IN THE DREAM and I'm chancing a repeat is on the cards.

Since that success, the five-year-old is winless in six starts, but in the main he's been running well and his fourth in the King George Qatar Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last time out, when not beaten far by the reopposing Big Evs, Asfoora and Believing, was easily his best of the current campaign.

If he turns up in similar form, I expect he'll make another bold bid from the front on rattling quick ground that suits.

At the price, with Betfred paying 4 places instead of 3 at 1/5 the odds, I suggest playing this each-way.
