The Racing League is back and the action, which takes place over six Thursday nights and features a total of 42 races, gets underway on the east coast from Yarmouth.

Seven regional teams - Team Yorkshire, The North, Wales and the West, London and the South, the East, Ireland and Scotland - will compete for a total of £2m in prize money and that has contributed to a competitive seven-race card on the opening night. The first race gets underway at 17:30, running through until 20:30, and we have a trio of selections for our Yarmouth tips for Thursday.

Yarmouth Tips - Thursday, July 25

  • 18:00 - Treacherous e/w @ 16/1
  • 19:30 - Equity Law @ 6/1
  • 20:00 - Oneforthegutter e/w @ 4/1

Horse Racing Odds

18:00 - Treacherous e/w @ 16/1

With Abate, Dion Baker and Hover On The Wind just three in this six-furlong handicap that like to force the pace, this should be truly run and that forecast strong gallop would make the reliable veteran Treacherous look a big-each way price.

The Ed De Giles-trained ten-year-old is coming towards the end of his career but he continues to hold his form well despite his advancing years, having finished outside the top four only once in his last ten starts.

Treacherous, down to mark of 75 which is only 1Ib above his last winning mark, relishes a strong pace to aim at and that is something he should be guaranteed here. If the gaps open, he should be finishing with a characteristic late surge.

This is an Extra Place Race, so Betfred will be paying 4 places instead of 3 at 1/5 Odds.

19:30 - Equity Law @ 6/1

As five-furlong sprints go, this isn’t sure to be a burn up and progressive three-year-old Equity Law may be in the best place to capitalise.

The Andrew Balding-trained three-year-old disappointed when sent off an odds-on favourite at Windsor last time out but that came following a 59-day layoff and he shaped like a horse that would come on for the run.

Prior to that, Equity Law had won a big prize at Sandown off a 3Ib lower mark and this is only his fifth handicap start, so he is open to plenty of improvement.

Equity Law is sure to be ridden prominently and he may get first run on his closest rivals, many of whom like to be held up off a strong pace.

This is an Super Extra Place Race, so Betfred will be paying 4 places instead of 3 for each-way bets at 1/5 Odds.

20:00 - Oneforthegutter e/w @ 4/1

This represents a slight drop in grade for ultra-consistent Oneforthegutter, who was last seen chasing home the lightly-raced Fairbanks in a Class 2 handicap over this 1m6f trip at Newmarket.

The winner was given an inspired ride from the front from Oisin Murphy that day and, although raised 1Ib for that near two-length defeat, Sean D Bowen takes off 3Ib and is one of the best claimers in the business.

With the Ian Williams yard in flying form and the ground and trip proving no problem, Oneforthegutter should be competitive and it is hard to see him not being involved at the death.

This is an Super Extra Place Race, so Betfred will be paying 4 places instead of 3 for each-way bets at 1/5 Odds.
