Wolverhampton races scaled

Wolverhampton stages a six-race card on Tuesday evening and the action is highlighted by a three-year-old handicap at 19:30.

Yellow Card ran a cracker when not getting a clear run at Bath last time out and Henry Hardwicke believes Ollie Sangster’s gelding looks capable of building on the promising placed effort.

19:30 - Yellow Card @ 6/4

YELLOW CARD wasn’t able to get clear sailing at Bath last time out, but Ollie Sangster’s charge caught the eye when finishing a narrow second to Thiscouldbefun and the three-year-old can make amends this evening.

The gelding was twice stopped in his run last time out and also unseated his jockey, Millie Wonnacott, after the line. However, that run confirmed that Yellow Card is ahead of his handicap mark and the gelding operation appears to have done the trick.

Sangster switches this son of 2018 Derby winner Masar to Wolverhampton’s Tapeta surface on Tuesday evening, but he has previously run with credit at Dunstall Park.

He is also out of a Listed winner, which, alongside his effort at Bath last time out, suggests he should be far better than a mark of 66.

20:00 - Sheephavenbaystory @ 9/1

SHEEPHAVENBAYSTORY could be worth a punt at a big price in the Handicap at 20:00.

The filly disappointed at Chelmsford last time out, but she was forced to make ground from a wide draw on that occasion and weakened with a furlong or so to go.

Being drawn in stall eight isn’t ideal for James Horton’s charge, but the three-year-old has enough gate speed to clear the field and take a better position.

The hood, which Sheephavenbaystory wore when delivering an improved run to finish a close third in a two-year-old maiden at Wolverhampton last year, is left on, and better is expected now returned to a more speed-orientated track.

A mark of 62 looks workable on handicap debut and Sheephavenbaystory can be the toast of punters at Dunstall Park.

21:00 - Cooramook @ 10/3

The card concludes with a Fillies’ Handicap over six furlongs and COORAMOOK can run amok.

Harry Eustace’s filly showed a mark of 65 was well within her compass when finishing second to the progressive Maelstrom at Yarmouth on handicap debut.

Maelstrom has since gone on to frank the form by following up at Haydock and William Haggas’ charge is now rated 80.

Cooramook has experience of running at Wolverhampton, she performed well on the all-weather at Chelmsford and stall three looks another positive this evening.
