Wolverhampton Tips: Groundsman ready to impress

There are five meetings across the UK and Ireland for racing fans to enjoy on Tuesday and, once the afternoon action on the turf is done, it's time to settle back for an evening card from the Tapeta at Wolverhampton.
There are nine races to look forward to from Dunstall Park, with races from 16:25-20:30 and below are my Wolverhampton Tips for this evening's action on the all-weather.
Wolverhampton Tips - Tuesday, May 6
16:55 Wolverhampton – Justcallmesergio @ 5/6
This 6f novice contest looks a good spot for JUSTCALLMESERGIO to get back on the up for trainer Karl Burke.
The Sergei Prokofiev colt was a striking winner on debut at Bath (5½f, firm) last month, sitting handy and coming clear to win by more than two lengths.
Just seven days later, he was tried in a Class 2 event worth north of £60k at Newmarket and, understandably, found it a bit too much.
That isn't a stick to beat him with, however, and that race has already produced three next-time-out winners and two that finished second on their only starts since.
Sights are very much lowered now and Clifford Lee's partner can add a second career success.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
18:00 Wolverhampton – Shamacid @ 9/4
This 6f novice event may be one that principally concerns Grey Jaguar and SHAMACID.
The former, trained by James Tate, was second at Southwell four weeks ago and has strong form claims, but the No Nay Never colt had every chance to win that race and rather appeared to wander around when the prize was within touching distance.
Shamacid travelled really strongly over this trip at Newcastle last time, but got picked off by Judicature in the closing stages.
He'd also run well at Southwell (second) prior to that and going around the bends at Wolverhampton may suit him better than Newcastle's straight course.
There isn't a lot between the likely market leaders but, at this point, Hollie Doyle's partner might be more streetwise.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
19:30 Wolverhampton – Groundsman @ 5/1
There are a few decent chances in the Book Hotel And Conferencing At Wolverhampton Handicap over 7f, including the veteran Triggered for Mark Loughnane and last week's winner Guiteau for Faye Bramley but GROUNDSMAN could trump them.
Richard Fahey's gelding by Acclamation is a 10-race maiden but was running well in defeat on turf across the summer and transferred that across to the Polytrack at Chelmsford last month.
That was his first run on a synthetic surface and he made some eye-catching late progress to snatch fifth spot in a bunched finish behind Currahee.
That was off a mark of 61 and he is rated 1lb lower now. He's got scope for better on the all-weather and is undoubtedly well handicapped on the best of his turf efforts.
Jack Garrity's partner looks like a threat to all.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
