Wolverhampton Racecourse

With six British and Irish meetings taking place across Monday there's lots of racing action to cater for all tastes. Among it will be the Flat card from Wolverhampton, where they have six races from 18:20-21:00 on the all-weather.

We've picked out a trio to follow at the Staffordshire venue, including a course winner who is coming back over from Ireland to try and land another successful raid. Find my Wolverhampton tips for Monday below.

Wolverhampton Tips

  • 18:20 – Circles @ 4/1
  • 19:55 – Pop Dancer @ 12/1
  • 21:00 – Come On John @ 9/1

18:20 – Circles @ 4/1

Monaghan-based trainer Anthony McCann frequents Wolverhampton quite regularly these days, and the in-form handler has a few good chances on another competitive card on Monday evening.

McCann is responsible for two of the eight runners in the opening 6f handicap. Talented up-and-coming rider Tommie Jakes will ride recent course-and-distance second Big Dream, but CIRCLES boasts the strongest claims of the pair.

Circles won a 0-68 handicap over track and trip in January, and was far from disgraced in better company around here subsequently. She was short of room at a crucial stage of the race when an eyecatcher in sixth at Dundalk last month.

Back she comes to Wolverhampton, the scene of her last success, and dropping down into 0-65 company she must have a big chance. Liam Wright is booked for the ride and his 3lb claim could be valuable.

19:55 – Pop Dancer @ 12/1

Silvestre De Sousa won a Classic last week when landing the 1,000 Guineas, and he has been riding out of his skin since returning to Britain. It has to be very interesting that connections have booked the maestro for the ride on POP DANCER in the 5f handicap.

Trained by Tony Carroll, the seven-year-old is now 1lb lower than when successful over course and distance in November. He had excuses at Brighton when last seen as he dwelt coming out of the stalls and never had a chance to get involved after that.

Pop Dancer will need to be sharply away here to stand any chance being drawn in stall eight, but he has one of the best pilot's about on board and he's fancied to bounce back to form.

21:00 – Come On John @ 9/1

In the closing 1m½f handicap, top weight COME ON JOHN should be well up to finding the winner's enclosure again for trainer Michael Attwater.

There is a possibility that he finds this trip on the sharp side at this stage of his career despite being a course and distance winner. He got going all too late when a closing third over 1m2f at Lingfield this month but he was certainly a big eyecatcher.

There's a couple in here who like to get on with it at the front end so that should ensure he has a decent pace to aim at, and there might be nothing finishing the race off to better effect than this boy.
