Wexford Tips: Crawford to make the lengthy journey worthwhile with Carnfunnock

With six British and Irish meetings taking place across Wednesday, there's lots of racing action to cater for all tastes. That includes a jumps card from Wexford, where they have seven races from 14:28-17:28 on ground forecast to be Good.
My Wexford tips include the gelding Carnfunnock who makes the lengthy journey south from Stuart Crawford's northern base.
Wexford Tips - Wednesday, July 24
14:58 Wexford - Carnfunnock @ 4/1
The impressive winner of an Ayr bumper and third to Facile Vega in a Grade 2 Leopardstown bumper in 2022, CARNFUNNOCK also got the better of subsequent Martin Pipe winner Better Days Ahead in a bumper in the same year.
Trained by Stuart Crawford, the seven-year-old won twice over hurdles but struggled to hit top form last season. Consequently, he has been sent chasing, and he ran a respectable race on his debut over fences when fourth at Down Royal over 2m4f in May.
JJ Slevin takes over in the saddle now which is a positive and he can be expected to improve with that experience under his belt. It's Crawford's sole runner of the day at Wexford and hopefully, it will be a winning one.
16:58 Wexford - Outside The Door @ 8/1
Moving on to the extended 3m1f handicap chase in which a chance can be given to many, but our dart has landed on Padraig Roche's OUTSIDE THE DOOR with Peter Smithers aboard claiming 7lb.
He was a fortuitous winner of this race two years ago when left in the lead after the last, but was beaten only two lengths in the contest last year in fourth, so it's a race connections target it seems.
Just 1lb higher now compared to last year, he's expected to run a big race and he arrives following an eye-catching third at Sligo when he travelled with zest for a long way. This could be his day.
17:28 Wexford - Emily In Paris @ 4/1
Grade 1-winning jockey Michael O'Sullivan is always highly sought after in these low-grade handicaps and topweight EMILY IN PARIS ticks a lot of boxes in the closing extended 3m1f handicap chase.
David Fitzgerald's mare is very consistent and O'Sullivan has a good record on her with form figures that read 211376. He guided her to both of her career victories over hurdles at Killarney and Sligo last summer and this is her time of year.
Emily In Paris has been withdrawn several times due to the going and needs good ground or better to be seen at her best, while it must be noted she was withdrawn from running at Killarney a couple of weeks ago as she was in season.
Still lightly raced over fences, this will be her third start over larger obstacles and she could be fairly treated from an opening mark of 95.
