Warwick Tips: Eldorado Allen can roll back the years

For the second day in a row, there is National Hunt racing from Warwick to enjoy and it promises to be an informative seven-race card featuring some of the leading connections.

Nicky Henderson, Dan Skelton, Paul Nicholls, Alan King and Olly Murphy are all represented on the card, with racing getting underway at 12:23 with a Junior Hurdle for three-year-olds and concludes with a traditional National Hunt flat race at 15:31. Read on for my Warwick tips for Thursday.

12:23 Warwick - Tashan @ 5/2

Juvenile hurdles can be tough races to call but Tashan showed so much promise on debut at Hereford that he could be worth siding with to go one better than when runner-up to Irish raider Aotano.

The three-year-old son of Golden Horn has since changed hands from John Butler to Emma Lavelle but that may be a positive and he really impressed with his slick jumping on what was his hurdles bow.

With this seven-runner contest featuring three hurdles debutants, one carrying a penalty and another that was in behind Tashan last time out, he could put that experience to good use.

14:25 Warwick - Eldorado Allen @ 9/4

Eldorado Allen may not be the force of his second in the Betfair Chase in 2022 but the 10-year-old should still be capable enough of defying a mark of 150 in this Veterans' Handicap Chase.

The Joe Tizzard-trained grey was fourth in the Gold Cup Handicap Chase at Newbury off a 4Ib higher mark in December of last year and that is a premier handicap often littered with unexposed novices.

This will be his first run for 222 days but his form figures on his seasonal return read 121123 and he looks better treated than any of his rivals, who have nothing to hide from the handicapper.

The Tizzard team are in flying form and the 3Ib claim of Freddie Gingell only enhances what looks a gilt-edged opportunity.

15:00 Warwick - Lady Jago @ 5/2

Skelton is wasting no time in sending Lady Jago chasing and she could make a winning start on handicap debut off a lenient looking mark of 110.

The five-year-old has had only six starts under rules - three in bumpers and three in novice hurdles - so it is interesting that she makes her handicap debut over fences.

Shelton’s novices tend to be well-schooled, so she should have done plenty of work at home, and she has a couple of pieces of form that suggests she may be leniently treated at a course her connections have become very successful at.

This is an Extra Place Race, with three places on offer instead of two at 1/5 the odds for all each-way bets.
